E-Type.
The Jaguar E-Type (also known as the XKE) was first announced in March 1961, and in my eyes, is one of the most beautiful Jags ever built!!! The engine is capable of doing 150MPH, which is fast today; in 1961 it must have been astonishing.
There were four engines available:
- 3.8 litre from 1961 to 1964
- 4.2 litre from 1965 to 1968
- 4.2 litre series 2 from 1969 to 1970
- and the 5.3 V12 litre from 1971 to 1974 (This model my Grandad had)
S-Type R.
The new Jaguar S-Type R starts at around £48:000. it does 0-60: 5.3 secs approx, with a top speed of 155 MPH Limited, which gives you about 400 BHP. The new "R" is very easy to recognize compared to a normal S-Type, with its bigger bumpers, mesh grill, rear spoiler, tail pipe, brake callipers, interior, and of course it 18" Zeus alloy wheels with "Brembo" braking.
XJR.
The brand-new XJR sports saloon is even better than the original. With its 4.2 litre engine it can go from 0-60: 5.0 secs it has a top speed of 155MPH.
Like the S-Type R, it is easily recognized beside an ordinary XJ, with its desticted badges, interior, and alloy wheels.
XKR/ XK8.
The XK is quiet an old car now, but with it face lift and new accesseries it's still a lovely car today. Whether you get the 400BHP supercharged XKR, or the refined 300BHP XK8, they both with the same 4.2 litre V8 unit. They are easily identified when parked next to each other, the XKR with its racier lines a bigger wheels, and badges, and the more elegant XK8. No matter which one you choose, convertable, coupe, R, 8, you certinally enjoy them.
