THE NORMANDY ARNHEM SOCIETY

(founded 1996)

THE SOCIETY

Based at a former RAF Bomber Command station in the North of England, the NAS is a small highly efficient "Living History" organisation.  Uniquely, it's membership is comprised largely of either serving or former service men.  It has become recognised for it's ability to portray an accurate image of soldiers during the period 1943 to 1945.  This has been achieved through a combination of in depth research and advice received, in many cases, from former members of the wartime Armed Forces of both Great Britain and Germany.  Initially formed in 1989 as a Re-enactment Group and displaying only as a German unit, the Society was expanded and reformed to include British Airborne Forces.
The NAS comprises two main units; representing the German Armed Forces are the Panzergrenadiers of 9.Kompanie, III Bataillon, SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 20, 9.SS-Panzerdivision "Hohenstaufen"; representing the British Armed Forces are the airborne engineers of 9 (Airborne) Field Company, (The Shiny 9th), Royal Engineers, 1st British Airborne Division.

In addition, the NAS also has the ability to include elements of the Royal Air Force, Luftwaffe and German Army in it's portfolio.  Continuing to develop on a regular basis, the NAS offers a most professional approach to both it's training and displays

AIMS

  The Normandy Arnhem Society (NAS)

Is dedicated to keeping history alive by recreating, as accurately as possible, the life and times of German and British soldiers during the latter half of World War II. The Society is a living museum of remembrance, designed to show the general public the uniforms, equipment and weapons of over half a century ago in actual use in authentic  settings.

It is the Society's aim to help the public, especially the younger generation, learn more about World War II - a conflict which many people will only have knowledge of through the tales of parents and grandparents - and to allow the veterans of ALL nations the chance to reminisce, and to remember fallen comrades.

The Normandy Arnhem Society exists to INFORM AND EDUCATE and hopefully play it's part in ensuring such a conflict does not occur

IN REMEMBRANCE

LIVING UP TO IT'S UNOFFICIAL MOTTO: "WITH MALICE UNTO NONE", THE NORMANDY ARNHEM SOCIETY OFFERS A UNIQUE OPPORTUNITY TO STEP BACK IN TIME AS AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO THOSE WHO FOUGHT ALL THOSE YEARS AGO. OUR GENERATION SALUTES THEIR EFFORTS AND REMEMBERS, WITH RESPECT, THEIR SACRIFICE. WITHOUT THEIR VICTORY WE WOULD NOT HAVE THE FREEDOM WE ENJOY TODAY

"WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
