We bought these birds with the Silkies and Cochins from Ideal Poultry. I had never heard of them before and wanted to try them. I can't find much info on them but wanted to show them off a bit. We will seperate the two roosters and hens we do have from the others and hopefully start raising chicks. From what I can tell now they are very docile birds. I haven't had any problems with them. The roosters are now starting to breed with the older hens. They are not crowing that I know of as of October 30, 2004
As they grow I will post pics so that those of you who are interested in the breed can see the detail in the feathering etc.
I cannot see Blue in the feathering. They are mostly Black and White to silver in the neck with some green tail feathers starting now. They really glisten in the sunshine!
One hen vanished into thin air so now all we have is one hen left and the two roosters. I would like to be able to add a few more of the hens to the flock. They are flighty and nervous acting unlike the roos.

Iowa Blue Rooster on the steps begging for food.

I only have one hen left. You can't see it well in the picture but she does have some very light markings in her feathers.

I love my Iowa Blue Roos! They are such handsome boys! The Naked Neck we thought was
a rooster but turns out she is a hen!!!!!

Okay so they are a little rotten!! Here he is waiting on food but doesn't want to come all
the way inside because of me.

Standing and waiting...
I hope to have chicks soon.
