BIO: Born in Paris, France, on May 18, 1864, Brigette Cousteau was indeed a different child.  Instead of learning how to be a proper lady at her mother Jeanne’s charm school, she spent her time climbing trees & riding bikes in the park.  Brigette was a girl ahead of her times, a feminine naturel, who never wanted to settle down & raise children.  But all that changed shortly after her 11th birthday...

It was a sunny summer day in Madame Cousteau’s Charm School.  Brigette, against her wishes, had been dragged over to the place to act as a dancing partner for one of the students.  It turns out her dancing partner, Victor Claudius, had fallen in love with her, & soon, Brigette did the same.  The two had a loving relationship for the next 8 years, until Victor moved to London to work in the police force.  A heartbroken Brigette wept mournfully as Victor’s ship made its way across the English Channel.

Desperate to have her boyfriend back, Brigette spent the next many years traveling around the world, looking for Victor, until she decided to go to London to search for him.  She couldn’t have picked a better place to reunite with her lover...

Currently, Brigette can be seen in London with her new husband & her niece Cherise, that is, when she’s not traveling the world with her family.

A prime example of the “New Woman”, Brigette Cousteau has an immense appetite for exciting activities & all things exploratory, be it traveling through dense jungles or climbing mountains.  Tough & tomboyish, this spunky adventuress can’t imagine doing anything else to occupy her time, except for bringing her family along on her escapades.

However, Brigette is more than a plucky voyager; she has the heart of a loving mother bird, ever concerned about her loved ones & the friends she makes on her countless journeys.  Sweet-natured & gentle, she is constantly smiling & not bothering to say a bad word about anyone (unless she has a good reason to).  Though she has very little patience & is very dramatic over her pet subjects, she is kind, considerate, friendly, & polite to everyone she meets.

One of Brigette’s other well-loved qualities is that she is quite intelligent, diving into books in her spare time & giving out random factoids about the foreign places she visits; the brainy young lady is also street-smart, quick to act & able to come up with a good plan in times of danger.

Brigette Cousteau is a most harmless mouse, & may be approached without caution.

Back in 2003, when I began showing interest in GMD again, I had begun writing a proposed story for my fanfic “The Baker Street Family Chronicles”, in which Monsieur Victor was reunited with his one true love.  When creating the character of Brigette Cousteau, I had lent her the voice & middle name of Sophie (pictured left), Marie’s lady-in-waiting in the 1997 animated film “Anastasia”, as well as her talkative nature & her French nationality.  Later, as the character became more developed, I modeled Brigette further after Nellie Bly (pictured center) for her career as a journalist.  Marianne Thornberry (pictured right), a cartoon character from a Nickelodeon show I particularly enjoy, later gave Brigette her sweet & adventurous characteristics.
