BIO: Known for making whips out of the tails of rodents he had killed, Alan Ratigan was once Mouse London’s most infamous serial killer.  But like all the citizens of the city, he had a past, a present, & a future...

Alan Charles Ratigan was born to Lonnie & Molly Ratigan on November 14, 1859, in a lonely room on the upper floor of the Bramble & Briar Pub in the East End of London.  When he was a child, Alan often didn’t have a mother figure—Molly was a prostitute, & when she wasn’t “serving” other men at the brothel, she was busy serving drinks at the pub he lived in.  Alan, however, did have someone to look up to—his father Lonnie & his three grown cousins Ida, Ethel, & Kenneth.  Lonnie & the Ratigan cousins provided much of Alan’s education, not to mention they were there for him when his mother wasn’t (& unfortunately, that was a lot of the time).

One hot night in June of 1866, Lonnie & the cousins woke a sleepy Alan up from his slumber, & took him away to Mouses Fiennes' hideout nearby.  After walking over 83 mouse miles to Mouses Fiennes’ sewer lair, Lonnie, Ida, Ethel, & Kenneth introduced the 7-year-old Alan to Mouses Fiennes, the World’s Greatest Criminal Mind...& Lonnie’s criminal mentor.  Alan then discovered that his father was a serial killer, & his cousins were mercenaries for Mouses.  Alan was fascinated by the life of a murderer, & within in a week, he became Mouses’ new pupil.

Alan spent a whole year training to become a slayer, & by the time he turned 8 years old, he was officially a serial killer.  Alan, despite his small size, could easily fool a grownup, & within minutes, he could have them lying on the floor dead.  One of the favorite things Alan liked to do, was chop off his victims’ tails, & use them as flogging scourges.  Alan was soon labeled Mouse London’s worst serial killer, & everyone tried their best to avoid him—mostly in vain.  Even his mother Molly could not escape her murderous son.

Years passed, & Alan was now 16.  One stormy night in 1875, Alan was drinking sherry at the Wild Rose Pub in Dublin.  His waitress found him attractive, & hitched a ride with him back to London.  Another year later, Alan Ratigan & 25-year-old Sheila Barkley were married by Mouses Fiennes in a private ceremony.

After marrying, Alan & Sheila decided they wanted a baby of their own—probably so Alan could corrupt him & make him a serial killer, too.  Nonetheless, Alan & Sheila tried to have a child...but Sheila couldn’t conceive.  Desperate to have a child, the Ratigans went around the world—particularly to America & Japan—& kidnapped three children: Willie Ford (in 1879), “Jellybean” Jameson (in 1877), & Yoko Bono (in 1876).  They treated & loved the three children like their own, but it wasn’t enough.  However, luck was soon on the Ratigans’ side: on July 22, 1880, Alan & Sheila conceived a natural son...but soon, Alan found out that the child he had waited so long to have was a rat...a hideous, disgusting rat.  Alan & Sheila, who despised rats, ordered Willie & the other children to get rid of it.  And they did.

Later that night, Mouses Fiennes found out what the Ratigans had done with their son.  Mouses, in a fit of rage, & took a gun, & shot Alan & Sheila to a bloody, violent death.

Alan was then buried next to his wife in Mouses’ private cemetery, where his corpse remains today.

When designing the character of Ratigan’s father, I wanted to make him as notorious as his son.  So I turned to Charles Manson (pictured left) for inspiration—both in his job as a serial killer & his middle name.  Alan Ratigan was named after his voice actor Alan Rickman (pictured right).
