The Project...

The modern day paper journal has been long neglected.

This project aims at bringing that concept back, only with a twist.

The MIA (Missing In Action) Project is centered around a basic concept of uniting people around the globe as a form of international artistic expression.

The MIA will be releasing a limited number of blank journals (think hardcover sketchbooks) to be handed from person to person, by hand delivery or by mail.

Each contributor can leave their creative mark on their entry. It may take up one page, or several pages. You may write a letter to an anonymous friend, staple magazine clippings to the page, paint or charcoal or color with crayons, paste a collage of empty candy wrappers, draw a mini comic strip, or write a story in a foreign language. There are no limits on how creative your entry can be!

Once the entry is complete, send it on it's way.

There will be three designated ways to trade MIA journals; from person-to-person, by mail to the next person on the Wait List, and to have a Sitting Journal in particuliar locations worldwide (i.e. coffeehouse, book store, etc).

Unlike your childhood journal, this one was meant to be shared!

Join MIA

Before you decide to join MIA, please read the following carefully.

Upon becoming a member of MIA, you will recieve a journal either by hand or by mail. You may use one page, or several, it is up to you. Once you are finished with your personalized addition to the journal, PLEASE, send it on to the next person in line.

This is ultimately a social and artistic experiment. The success of a project like this lies within the hands of it's members and their dedication to keeping it going. Please do not join if you do not want to be responsible for being a journal courier.

Visit our JOIN MIA page to fill out the necessary information to get started!

Only your FIRST NAME and LOCATION (city, state or country) will be posted in the Members area. Member Privacy is imporant to us. Your information will not be given out or sold to any outside parties. A Member's home address can not and will not be given out to anyone without that person's consent to do so, which in that case, if you asked their permission, you can ask for the address yourself :) Oh, and we promise not to stalk you if you promise not to stalk us!
