Welcome to our M38A1C restoration page. For those of you who don't know, this variant of the M38A1 carried a 106mm recoiless rifle. The jeep was purchased from North Dakota, where it had been in use on a farm for some time. |

After the longest time, we finally are set to do some serious work. After getting the final touches done on the shop in the last month, we now have a dedicated workshop to work in. We'll be moving all our big equipment there over the next couple of weeks.
As for the jeep, we have been focusing on getting it apart. Newbies as we are, we photo-documented all parts on the jeep as they were, so as not to get confused at a later stage. We have most of the major external components off, as seen on the pics below, and are almost ready to take the body off.

Start of work on Feb 20

Log
May 15 2006 - The site is up, and the jeep has been received. As the engine is not in working order, we had to laboriously push the vehicle a good 20 feet into the garage. I also took the camera and took some pictures. I've only included a few of them on the site, and will hopefully get more up soon.

After a very brief runthrough, it doesn't look like its seen much modification from its Army days (with the exeption of the back rails w/wood). The left half of the windshield is smashed, and the jeep is rusty as a whole (the floor is rusted through in some places). It doesn't look like much has been ripped off of the jeep. It has the gas can carriers, reciolless mount spaces, and even has shovel strap under the hood.
More to come.
