The Hours began in late 2002 when all three members became friends in year 7 (the band was called "Social Insanity" at this stage). Over the Christmas holidays of 2002 The Hours recorded their first demo CD. It was entitled "Living On The Edge".
There was little or no more recording from The Hours between 2003 and 2004. In mid 2003 "Social Insanity" became "The Conformers" and recorded another demo. This was never released because of technical difficulties. This period in the band’s life consisted mostly of performing.
2004 came and with it, the change from "The Conformers" to The Hours. The Hours started performing new material and then entered home-built studio yet again to record "A Single Minute".
