The host is a book about an soul named Wanderer. She was put into a human body named Melanie. Everything is suposed to be perfect, but there is one problem. Melanie refuses to fade away. Now Wanderer has to deal with Melanie who is talking inside her head. Melanie sends Wanderer images of her past, but most of them are about one person, Jared. Jared is Melanie's loved one. Melanie belives that Jared is still out there some where, that his body hasn't been taken over by a soul yet. Melanie convinces Wanderer to go looking for him. They find where Jared is hiding, in Uncle Jeb's cave. Everyone in the cave hates Wanda (Wanderer) for quite some time. But gradualy people begin to except her for who she is. One person in piticular, Ian. Ian is one of the first to except Wanda and soon falls in love with her. Now Wanda is torn between Jared and Ian, even though Melanie is the one who loves Jared and Wanda loves Ian. now Wanda has to keep hidden from other souls with the other humans and she has to deal with Jared and Ian. Will Wanda be able to make everyone happy. Or will she dicide to sarcrify her own life so Melanie can be with Jared? What about Ian? How will Wanda be able to leave Ian?
