"Horsemanship is not just about the end result, it's about the journey you and your horse take to get there." Sally Matthews
We often hear “Well I can get Jo Blow down the road to break my horse in for $500” Well use him then, but we can assure you that Jo Blow isn’t going to take the same amount of time and care with your horse as we will.
Our price is reflective of the costs involved, feed, wormers, farrier, and dentist, wear and tear on your gear and equipment, petrol and of course you need to pay yourself a wage.
We charge a flat rate regardless of how long the horse is here, so that no pressure is placed on the horse to be ready in a certain amount of time. Having said that the usual time it takes is about 4 weeks but it is not unusual for a horse to take up to 2 or more months. Every horse learns at there own pace and forcing them will only create problems.
Some horses who aren’t mature enough we like to take more time with them, and some horses require a spell during there training so that they can relax and soak in what they have learned.
That’s where we differ from the Jo Blows down the road. We take as much time as it takes to train your horse. We don’t charge extra for agistment or feeding, its all included in the one flat fee, so we think we are pretty good value.
We expect alot more from our breakers the Jo Blows down the road who only get your horse saddled and ridden and expect you to do the rest yourself.
Here at M and M Equine we take your horse further then the standard “breaker”, we strive to send you home a fully capable saddle horse that with minimal effort on your part you can take to a show, pony club or whichever discipline you choose. But most importantly we strive to send you home the safest possible horse.
