Fall Fave

Even though I look like my daughter 's dog in this hat - she has a golden doodle - it is my favourite fall topper.

For more kooky hats, see my book, 1,000 Hats (Schifferbooks.com).

Have a hatty day! Norma

The Hat-a-Day Project, Day 99: No Knickers

If worn with a purple dress, this hat will gain you entry into a Red Hat Society meeting, but what many Red Hatters don't know, is that it wasn't always easy to find a red hat. Some considered that a red hat meant "no knickers".

Shoes to Match

This gorgeous feathered cartwheel, originally owned by portrait artist, Aline Banting, made its debut several decades ago at an art gallery opening. Note the dyed-to-match silk stiletto. Can you say chartreuse?

If I were feeling blue (I'm not!) this feathered open-crown would be just the thing to boost my spirits.  Just don't ask me to do your dusting!

The Hat-a-Day Project, Day 96: Simply Splendid

Simply Spendid

This fantastic 1960s fur felt is very Audrey Hepburn.  I'd love to know who made it, but it is unsigned. The bow adornment picks up gold tones in reflected light.

Bargain Basement

A yellow straw from Eaton's bargain basement! This charmer retains its original price tag - $3.97, marked down from $15.00. the maker's tag from Charm Hats also hangs from the centre back, revealing the hat's style number.

Daisy Mae

I am very fond of our collection of daisy-bedecked hats. This example was made in England for Eaton's. Cellophane straw is sewn in layers to produce the mushroom brim, while the high crown is made cheery by athe addition of cloth daisies with chenille centers.

To see more daisy hats and ...
