MATCH REPORT 2ND NOVEMBER 2008!

THE GREENWOOD F.C   5 - 2   YARDLEY AMATEURS

The Greenwood started this match at a high tempo and looked like they was up 4 it from the 1st whistle, their passing was slick and the movement was excellent and it was no suprise when they took the lead in the 15th min through a brave Duncan hill header, Jimmy Green played the ball out of defence and it bounced into their box, the keeper came charging out but Hill got their 1st 2 nod over him, they scored again 10 mins later when Scott Wilson burst into the box and slotted home. The Greenwood looked dangerous everytime they broke with The impressive Haynes and the lively Fisher causing problems down the flanks, and they made the pressure count in the 34th min when Fisher scored from close range after a mix up in the box, They added a 4th in the 40th min after a well worked goal, Robbie Parker started the move from the back he passed into the middle where he found Benton, he exchanged passes with Reece before Releasing Haynes down the Left, Haynes then ran at the defence beating 3 defenders before pulling the ball back to Wilson who drove home from close range, it was a execellent team goal. The 2nd half went Flat for the Greenwood as their game went out the window and Yardley to their credit battled well and deserved their 2 goals albeit The Greenwood could of done better on both occasions, the only highlight of the 2nd half was Adam Reeces super drive in the 83rd min which found the top corner, The Greenwood ran out deserved winners though 5-2.

MATCH REPORT 19TH OCTOBER 2008!

       PLOUGH F.C     4 - 1    THE GREENWOOD F.C

Another shocking display from the Greenwood as they fell apart as soon as they conceded the 1st goal, but in truth they should of been 3- 0 up in the opening 20 mins but a combination of poor finishing and wrong decision making proved costly, Plough took the lead in the 24th min when Liam Irons passed back to the keeper Richard Anson, Anson got his feet in a mix and the plough forward slotted home, they extended their lead early in the 2nd half when Irons tripped the Plough forward in the box and gave away a penalty, in which he durely convereted, The Greenwood then pushed Irons up front and this proved a good move as he flicked on a long throw to Adam Reece who headed home inside the box on 68 mins, But the Greenwood was undone again at the back not long after when the Plough forward turned Andy Taylor in the box and beat Anson at his near post, With the Greenwood Pushing Players forward in search of a goal they got done by a long ball over the top and the forward went through and made the final score 4-1 to the Plough.

Goal Scorer:  A. Reece (68)

MATCH REPORT 12TH OCTOBER 2008!

THE GREENWOOD F.C  1 - 3   WINDERMERE F.C

Windermere deserved the 3 points today as they contolled the match and was more organised from start to finish, their pace up front caused the Greenwood problems throughtout the match, they took the lead in the 18th min when their forward headed home at the far post after Dave Morgan didnt follow the runner, they extended their lead in the 35th min when Jimmy Greens 1st touch let him down and the forward ran through on goal, Green then felled him in the box and the ref gave a penalty, which the player slotted home, the 2nd half started better for the Greenwood and they put Windermere under alot of pressure and pulled a goal back in the 54th min when Haynes volleyed home a David Icke cross, they pushed everyone forward searching for an equaliser but was caught out when Andy Taylor and Robert Parker made mistakes and the Windermere forward went through and netted the killer goal to give Windermere a well deserved 3.1 win

Goal Scorer:  P. Haynes (54)

MATCH REPORT 28TH SEPTEMBER  2008!

BENTLEY HEATH F.C    1 - 3   THE GREENWOOD F.C

The Greenwood was always in control in this match but found themselves a goal down in the 10th min against the run of play, this actually helped the Greenwood as they raised there game and soon found themselves on level terms in the 18th min when Paul Haynes sent over a corner and found Wesley Fisher who rifled into the roof of the net with a bit of help from team mate Jimmy Green, they then extended their lead in the 23rd min when Fisher Crossed and found Scott Wilson to side foot home from close range, Wilson then missed a guilt edge chance to add to his tally when put through one on one only to see his effort go wide, they scored the 3rd in the 38th min when Fisher Crossed for Adam Reece to head home inside the box, the 2nd half was low key as the Greenwood eased off the pace as they was always in control to leave the final score 3 - 1 to the Wood...

Man Of The Match: Robert Parker   Goal Scorers: Fisher (18)

                                                                                Wilson (23), A. Reece (38)

MATCH REPORT 21ST SEPTEMBER  2008!

THE GREENWOOD F.C   1 - 0  MAXTEL UTD F.C

The Greenwood dominated the match from start to finish and really should of won by more as Maxtel didnt create much going forward, the Greenwood started the match well and played at a high tempo although they missed alot of chances during the game, it looked like it was going to be one of them days for the Greenwood with all the missed chances but Adam Reece struck with 1 min to go from the edge of the area after he collected a pass from Guy Bradley to snatch a well deserved win, The Greenwood never looked in danger at the other end as the whole defence was superb with Jimmy Green being named Man Of The Match!...

Man Of The Match: Jimmy Green   Goal Scorer:  A. Reece (89)

MATCH REPORT 14TH SEPTEMBER  2008!

THE GREENWOOD F.C    2 - 3   MARSTON LIONS F.C

                                                                       (A.E.T)

The Greenwood threw this game away as they took a 2 goal lead and was cruising before they fell apart, they opened the scoring in the 29th min when the lively Haynes beat 2 men on the wing before pulling the ball back for Adam Reece to side foot home from 6 yards, they should of extended their lead but they missed chance after chance, they went in at half- time 1- 0, The 2nd half started the same with the Greenwood creating chances but failing to take them, they did grab the 2nd goal in the 59th min when Haynes  whipped in a great ball to the far post and substitute Guy Bradley slotted home, they should of killed the game off 5 mins later when Carl Neville was put through by Icke but he shot straight at the keeper. All these missed chances spurred Marston on and they grabbed a goal back in the 71st min, The Greenwood then pushed men forward and got caught napping at the back and Marston drew level to take the game into extra time. In extra time The Greenwood missed 3 guilt edge chances all set up by the  impressive Haynes, each time he pulled the ball back but was all missed by Luke Reece, this was proving not to be Greenwoods day and it was no suprise that Marston Grabbed the winner after a mistake by Liam Irons although the Marston forward looked yards offside.

Man Of The Match: David Icke    Goal Scorers: A. Reece (29)

                                                                                  G. Bradley (59)

MATCH REPORT 31ST AUGUST 2008!

THE GREENWOOD F.C   5 - 1  NORTHFIELD STAR

The Greenwood totally dominated this match and could and should of won by alot more, they created a host of chances before they look the lead in the 24th min through debutant Adam Reeces shot that the keeper spilled over the line, they continued to miss chance after chance and went in at half time 1 - 0. The 2nd half was alot better and they started to get in behind Northfields defence, they extended their lead in the 55th min when Bignell rounded the keeper to slot home, the 3rd goal came soon after in the 61st min when Haynes scored at the far post, the Greenwood continued to create chance after chance and  Haynes, Bignell, Icke and Reece should of increased the scoreline however it was Scott Wilson who grabbed the 4th in the 71st min with a great shot from the edge of the area, The same player then got caught in possession at the other end and Northfield went through and scored a goal they didnt deserve with the Greenwood defence being superb throughout the match. The 5th goal was the best of the match and showed great team play, Fisher took the ball down the left and put the ball across to Haynes who could of scored himself but he done a great dummy and let it go to Neville who slotted home to leave the final score 5 - 1 to the Wood!!
