Mother - The Great Guru

Shri Mataji Nirmala Devi

What Makes a Guru Great?

Perhaps the most remarkable fact about Shri Mataji is that, not only does she 'deliver the goods' spiritually by granting Self Realisation, but further, that she gives to all, at no cost, the guidance and knowledge to develop the very same powers which she possesses.

In essence a great guru wishes the disciple or aspirant to become the best they can be!

The word guru has a very specific meaning Gu = Ignorance. Ru = Dispeller. Hence a guru should be able to remove the veil of spiritual ignorance and illusion which engulfs  the human condition. Traditionally a Guru would accept only one or two aspirants at a time who might well have to demonstrate their worthiness prior to being accepted for training. The guru having accepted a "seeker of truth" would then give direction to the aspirant to prepare them for their spiritual ascent, growth and hopefully self realisation.

What is unique about Shri Mataji as a guru is that "She delivers the goods" spiritually. What's more she does this right from the first moment. Through her yearning to grant spiritual bliss to all who were seeking the truth in their hearts, she found a way. Rather than this being limited to granting the experience of self knowledge to a chosen few, Shri Mataji found a way to grant the experience of self realisation 'en masse'.
