The Gladeyes
are an independent band from Dunedin, New Zealand. Since forming in 2002 The
Gladeyes have toured New Zealand three times, released an EP, a music video,
and opened for such acts as The Verlaines, PanAm and King Kapisi. Their debut
EP "What
To Do?" was released in September 2003 through their own label, ELP Records.
A music video for the title track was filmed in 2004 and was released in June
of this year, followed by a tour of all the main centres. Due to drummer Stu
Harwood heading to Europe as a representative of the band to make contacts and
organise potential touring, The Gladeyes spent most of 2004 writing new
material. The band began working on their first full-length album in April this
year with a planned release date in early 2006 through Borderline Records. In
October the group head out on tour again, this time taking Australia as well as
the main centres of New Zealand. Their music can be described, in the words of
guitarist Chris Keogh, as "a twisted, post-modern attempt at making light
of pop music, which is only possible when you live at the very bottom of the
world." Nobody listens to him, he reads too much, so think of it as
Hyper-active Pop to dance to. The Gladeyes are:
Chris Keogh (Guitar, Vocals)
Anthony Lander (Bass, Vocals)
Logan Valentine (Guitar, Vocals)
Stu Harwood (Drums, Vocals)

Right, well
the new website is now underway and will be up before we go on tour. ThereÕs
not a lot new to report. We are working over some vocal tracks at the moment,
writing more material for the album and just trying to get all the final tour
details worked out. We will be playing on the Channel OneÕs Good Morning Show
on the 30th of September (the day of the welly show) which starts at
9am for all you early birds. We play at the start of the show and at the end.
IÕm totally digging Sumday y Grandaddy at the moment. Amazing album. Also if
you are in Dunedin on Thursday night go down to refuel and check out Vibrasics, a 7 piece live hip-hop band who
are fantastic. They have an album coming out on November the 12th on
Borderline and it sounds freaking amazing. Go the Borderline Massive!

Well I guess
itÕs time for an update. The new website hasnÕt happened for some reason and
weÕve been too busy to chase it up so in the mean time you will have to settle
for my feeble attempts. We have been preparing for the next tour and below are
the dates so come along and check it out. We also have made up some badges
which we will sell at the shows along with the EP. New video in October, album
2006. You know the drill. Also we are on the latest Radio One Sampler which you
can pick up for free from the station if you have a OneCard. We will also be on
the next Kaleidoscope World Series Compilation to be released in late October.
