Hilary Ann Duff was born in Houston Texas on September 28, 1987 to parents Bob and Susan Duff. Her sister Haylie was three years old at the time.
The girl's developed an interest in performing at an early age. They enrolled in a performing arts school and began to excel in ballet. Hilary went on to perform with Cechetti ballet. Later, both girls took part in the production of the Nutcracker with the Ohio Ballet Company.
While still living in Texas, Hilary received a glimpse of life in the spotlight. She acted in a television commercial and a small screen role in the 1997 series “True Women” alongside Algelina Jolie (Tomb Raider).
One day, a lady met Susan and her daughters in a shopping mall and agreed that the girls should be on TV. The lady convinced Susan to pay her a lot of money in order to move to Los Angeles and introduce Hilary and Haylie to Show Biz. So Susan and her daughters moved out to LA to pursue their acting careers. Bob stayed home in Texas to continue to run his chain of convenience stores. Hilary stopped normal school to be home schooled when she left Texas. The lady that had convinced the Duff’s to move to LA did not live up to her word. The girls were left stranded in California. But Susan decided to start setting up auditions for the girls on her own.
Susan’s hard work, dedication, and love for her daughters paid off! Hilary starred in the TV video “Casper Meets Wendy” an adorable film where Wendy (duff) is a witch who befriends a friendly ghost named Casper. Future acting roles for Hilary included the 1999 film “soul Collector” in which she played the role of Ellie. Duff received an award for Best Performance in a TV Movie or Pilot, Supporting Young Actress for her role in this film. She then went on to guest star in the medical drama “Chicago Hope” (2001). Other movies included Human Nature and Playing By Heart (2002).

When Hilary Duff was cast for the TV series Daddio, it seemed as if her career in acting could be going somewhere. But when she was dropped from the cast shortly after the show began, young hil was devastated. It took a lot for her to get back into the game. But Hilary went out for the Audition of Lizzie in the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire. She made the cut! That’s a big accomplishment for someone who almost didn’t go to the audition. This role would change Hilary’s life forever
