Hil had some tough breaks in the acting business but after landing the lead in Disney’s “Lizzie McGuire, everything seemed to turn around for Ms. Duff.

Written by Terri Minsky the plot was originally focused on a preteen and her relationships with her mother. The story line was later altered by director Stan Rogow and Minsky in order to make it more appealing to Disney.

          The show is based upon a group of best friends (Lizzie, Miranda, and Gordo) who attempt to battle preteen issues and try to survive junior high school. Many of the issues reflected in the show were those of popularity, first crushes, peer pressure, self respect, sibling rivalry, parental relationships, and overall growing up.

          Unfortunately Disney only allowed 65 episodes to be filmed but Lizzie continues to be popular and shown daily on The Disney Channel in the US and on The Family Channel in Canada. 

          Lizzie McGuire was an incredibly successful series that can be enjoyed by kids of all ages. Any child between the ages of six and sixteen knows of the lovable but clumsy character played by Hilary. A Lizzie McGuire clothing line was even created so kids could sport the look of their favorite television program.

          Hilary grew up a lot while shooting the series. It was the role of Lizzie that landed her many other acting opportunities. So after 65 episodes had been shot, the cast went on to film a movie and well…you know the rest.
