The Man:

When Gackt was young he had very strict parents. When he was about three he was forced to learn piano. He disliked learning and had to practice around 2 hours each day. His mother even controlled what he watched on T.V. and was only allowed to watch only educational shows.

Gackt's musical interest changed to classical. He remembers seeing the popular bands on television but was not very interested and didn't remember their names.

When he was about 7 he almost drowned in the sea of Okinawa. When he was rescued he began feeling psychic. Of course his parents did not believe him and others just thought he was crazy.

One day his parents were having a party downstairs. He began feeling as if a womans spirit was taking over his body. This compelled him to walk downstairs and he began screaming ,"Help me! Help me!" His parents just laughed and said that he had had a bad dream. He had lost all trust in his parents.

When he was a child Gackt wanted to become an orchestra conductor. but first wanted to learn brass instruments. One day he came home and saw his father playing his trumpet. At first Gackt thought,"Oh,He's great!" but then, "I want to get better than him." as a result of this Gackt practiced so hard that he ruined his teeth and can no longer use a mouthpiece.

After that Gackt began learning percussion. His teacher would not let him use a full drum set for a year. When he saw his teacher play difficult things easily he was ashamed and practiced harder.

A few of Gackts friends joined a rock band called "cain's Feel." They invited Gackt to join as the drummer,to which he obliged. When the vocalist left,Gackt replaced him. This is when they began playing on stage. He was dissapointed when people did not want to go to the concert so they began to sell tickets themselves.

In July 1995 Gackt joined a well known Visual Kei band called "Malice Mizer."

In 1999 Gackt left Malice Mizer and went solo. And that's what he's been doing ever since!
