Creatures and Races of Fantasy
Here will be all of the creatures and races from fantasy I have ever heard of. And, yes, I know there are hardly any, soon there will be lots... I have them all written down (lots and lots of them) and will get around to typing out all the descriptions soon. If you want to point out a missed one, please go to the guestbook

Acromantula
An acromantula is a massive spider covered in thick black hair. It's pincers, which click together when excited or annoyed, also create poison. Acromantula usually live in the deepest jungles of Africa and South America. The female is larger than the male, and lays up to one hundred eggs at a time, with hatch within eight weeks.

Basilisk
Basilisks are enormous, green snakes that may grow up to fifty feet long. Males sometimes grow large scarlet plumes from their heads. Basilisks have venomous fangs, but their most dangerous feature is their large yellow eyes. Anything making direct eye contact with the snake will die instantly. A basilisk eats almost anything alive, and can live to an incredible age. Basilisks are beleived to be born when a chicken's egg is hatched by a toad.

Boggart
A boggart is an old Scottish shapeshifter that mostly delights in trickery and practical jokes. There are a few unpleasant ones, who will try to harm or frighten, but these are few. Boggarts very rarely harm anything with their tricks. No-one knows what a boggart actually looks like, for it always stays invisible in its true form.

Dragon (Wyrm)
Dragons are immense winged reptiles that breathe fire, smoke, and some will even exhale poisonous gas. They often live in mountainous regions, dwelling in gigantic caves. Dragons love to hoard valuables in these caves, and also enjoy sleeping for very long amounts of time. Being like elves (see below), dragons do not die of old age. Many live for incredible amounts of time because of their covering of very hardy scales, which only the hold of a unicorn and precious few (often magical) weapons can pierce.

Goblin (Orc, Ork, Uruk, Yrch)
A goblin was most often a revolting creature. Somewhat like a small, ugly human in appearence, goblins have large, bat-like ears, discusting yellowed teeth, odd-coloured skin, and a heavy odour. A long while back, uruk-hai were created, a hideous half-breed of goblins and men. Goblins were cruel and not very bright. But in current times, goblins have become more civilzed creatures. Bathing, following the law, and proper dental hygene have become important among the race.

Griffon (Gryphon, Griffin)
Griffons have the head and forelegs of a giant eagle and the tail and hind legs of a lion. Griffons are usually quite fierce, though there are some records of quiet and tame ones. A griffon may be befriended by someone who knows griffon ways. They are often used for guards, message-carriers, and occasionally for transportation. Griffons are usually about the size of a very large lion, and they feed on raw meat.

Hippocampus
A water beast, hippocampi have the head and forelegs of a horse and a dolphin tail. They come in water shades: grey, blue, and green mixtures, there has even been some purple and brown-like shades. The spieces is usually found in warm waters, though there have been some sightings off the coasts of the United Kingdom and Canada. Hippocampi eggs are large and transparent.

Hippogriff
Hippogriffs are closely related to griffons (see above) and and are sometimes mistaken for eachother. They do have very noticable differences, however. A hippogriff has the head and forequarters of a very large falcon, and the hindquarters of a horse. Taming these beasts should only be done by experts. To approach a hippogriff, eye contact must be constant. You must bow, and if the creature bows back, it is safe to draw near. Hippogriffs eat insects, birds, and small mammals. Hippogriff eggs hatch quickly, in only twenty-four hours.

Kelpie
Kelpies live solely in the waters of Scotland, and northern parts of England and Ireland. They are shapeshifters, though their preferref form is that of a huge black horse with glinting red eyes. Kelpies eat almost anything, although their favorite seems to be human. Kelpies will always try to lure humans into their watery home with various forms.

Merperson (Selkie, Siren, Merrow, Merlee, Sea Elf)
A merperson is water-dwelling and gilled, with the upper body of a human and a fish-tail instead of legs. They live in organised communities and some even have buildings constructed on the bottom of the water in which they live. Merpeople use sea monsters (see below), hippocampi (see above), and dolphins for travel. Merpeople everywhere love music.

Pegasus (Winged Horse)
Pegasi are wonderful horses with feathery wings sprouting from each wither. They mostly roam free, but a few have been domesticated. There are many breeds, just as in horses, but the most unusual is the rare Thestral. Thestrals are carivores, with sharp fangs. They are black, and very gaunt, with white eyes. Thestrals have leathery wings, like those of bats, and are completely invisable to those that have not directly seen someone die.

Sea Monster
Sea monsters come in two basic varieties. (there are exceptions, but they are few) One kind has a horse-like head and a long, serpent body which rises in humps out of the sea. The other breed has a more smooth, streamlined head and a long neck. It also has a large, rounded body propelled by flippers, much like the sea-dwelling dinosaur, the plesiosaur. Despite many accounts of fericous behaviour, sea monsters have never been known to actually harm anyone. The most famous sea monster, from Loch Ness, is widely beleived to not be a sea monster at all, but rather a kelpie or boggart (see above) in monster form.

Unicorn
The unicorn is a beautiful horse-like creature with a single, pure white horn growing from the forehead. Full-grown unicorns are ivory white, with tufted tails and cloven hooves. Some varieties also have beards of smooth, ice-coloured hair, much like the hair of the mane and the tail's tuft. The foals are much the same, but with coats of soft gold. Unicorns are very fleet and intelligent, and generally fear humankind. However, they are more likely to let a maiden approach than a man.

Vampire
Vampires are creatures of the night that survive off of blood. Humans become vampires when bitten, and they remain vampires evermore. Vampires cannot go out in daylight, for their extremely sensitive skin. They have long fangs instead of eyeteeth for draining the blood of their victims, and hair that meets in a downward point between the eyes, called a "widow's peak". Most can either change into a bat, or grow large bat-like wings from the shoulder blades. Vampires have deadly allergies towards garlic and holy artifacts.

Werewolf
Humans become werewolves when bitten by one. Then, at each full moon, that human will turn into a very large, uncontollable wolf-like beast with an urge to kill and no conscience. There is no known cure, though potions made with wolfbane may diminish the worst symptoms, and render the human with just the form of the werewolf, and not the mind, at each full moon. This must be taken regularily. Signs of lycanthropy include, sudden unquenchable thirst, intense liking of rare cooked meat, and an interest in all lunar things. Werewolves can only be killed by a silver bullet.

Wyvern
Wyvern appear like miniature dragons, usually about the size of a horse. They are easily irritated by small things, but can usually be restrained from attacking by their masters. Wyvern seem to be tamed easier by those with evil intentions, and thus have gained a bad reputation. Some breeds have only two legs, but most have four. Wyvern are used for message-carrying and sometimes for mounts, much like griffons. (see above)
