“Recruitment for your Chapter”

Have you ever wondered how one chapter has steady growth and continues to have 40+ members each year? Well it’s all about recruiting members and recruiting the RIGHT members. The Southeast district is one of the largest districts with some of the largest chapters, but we still have some sister chapters that are struggling to keep five members in the active chapter. A lot of inactivity in our district doesn’t come from hazing, or lack of paperwork, but from lack of members. So ask yourself how can we change this?
It all goes back to recruitment for the band and the needs for the band program that you are in. The membership of the chapter is not going to grow if the band or the music program is not a direct reflection. Our main goal and mission is to “Build better bands,” and if that is not our main focus in our chapters, the focus is lost. The best recruitment for the band and for the sorority is to be a great bandsman and perform every performance like it is going to be your last. There are so many recruitment tools that are offered by the sorority and through other resources but the best one is just to make great music and gain that respect from your student body.
Your chapter is a reflection of your band program and music program, so in building the music and quality music, you will find quality members that would like to do the same and is gain the “honor to be selected to serve.”
