Axe Valley Pedallers (AVP)

A social cycling group (The Axe Valley Pedallers) is based in Seaton, East Devon in the Axe Valley. Since January 2005 we have met every 2^nd Sunday of each month (NEXT MONTHLY MEET IS SUN 9th NOV 2008. 'Questionable Quest' lead by Quiff  - Meet at 10am at TIVERTON TIC - see cycle ride details page)  We also meet each Thursday evening. New events and activities are occuring all the time and we have recently set up a separate Tuesday night meet, which is lead by Tuesday Ride Captain 'Buster C', and a Friday daytime ride by 'Chequers'.

While our principal aim is to raise the profile of cycling in the Axe Valley area, our primary purpose is to get those who enjoy cycling, both young and old, to come together on a social basis, and share a most enjoyable recreational pursuit in a wonderful area on the East Devon/West Dorset border. We have formed essentially via word of mouth and recommendations from a small group of friends encouraging others with an interest in cycling to join in.

Our current “official” base is the Kings Arms public house in Colyford Road Seaton. This is where we meet each Thursday evening (6.30pm) for a leisurely ride which can be as long or as short as those who turn up want it to be, never forgetting that we meet up within the pub from 8.45pm onwards to enjoy each others company.

Although we operate on a very informal basis with the emphasis on simply enjoying cycling, we have grown to such an extent that a small membership charge of £10 per year has been introduced. This provides a membership card for each member with a 10% discount for any goods bought at Soanes Cycle shop in nearby Colyton and contributes towards administration and other activities carried out by the 'Organising Team'.
