The Ultimate Minority

Sleep Chamber

Dark, repetitive, and moody-Sleep Chamber has created a sound that is both sensual and suffocating.  One of the more unnerving albums for its through-out minimalist music and a vocalist sounding like a dark id sucking out of a brighter ego.  Sleep Chamber is the bangutot of a nocturnal experience-like waking from a ream with a scream, sweat, and amnesia.  Eerie, moody, strangely elusive and amorphous, the spectre of Sleep Chamber will guarantee a restless night sleep.

"This waz our first vinyl LP put out b INNER-X.  There were only 300 copies made because the mastering waz low on the disk.  It forced you to turn up your stereo, which turned up the surface noise also.  A common problem in mastering vinyl.  A lot ov the members ov the group were into Crowley and their own personal magick at this time.  We were being labeled az 'devil worshipers' mostly because of the Crowley influence and the attempt at playing ritual musick live in with our regular offbeat style.  "Weapons Ov Magick" was usually what we would end a live show with.  It waz like doing a cover of the Beatles track 'Number 9.'  The audiences were always affected by this track.  And by that time in the show the incense had started to effect most ov them.  We had a narcotic mixture of Datura, wormwood, hemlock, etc... mixed with frankincense and exotik oils ov all kinds.  I didn't realize the conditions caused by incense lasted for 2 days.  I waz constantly being told stories about wild dreams and lingering sleepiness.   We used the incense to invoke a trance state in the audience.  Also to control the unwanted violence that sometimes broke out.  Some people seemed to respond violently to the ritual musick when we played it live.  It waz more powerful than we thought.  The energy waz almost uncontrollable.  We had to control it or it would cause many strange events throughout the evening.  After we started to use the incense the crowds were manageable.  We could direct them in the trance.  We could center the energy right into the atmosphere ov the show.  It would take up to a year to realize the power we were invoking in the live shows.  Some clubs banned us right after our show... they seemed to be very afraid of us. The live versions on this LP show that we could perform this material effectively in a live show  It also shows that not everyone likes this style ov musick, especially LIVE!  The material waz recorded at a red-neck club called "The Marshfield Ranch House".  Our show waz not cared for, but received an atmosphere ov respect.  The club remained silent all night, no catcalls, taunts, or shouts.  Only empty stares and quiet mumblings."
