.:: The Similarity Between Kazuya & Iori ::.
***********************************
Never saw this coming did you? Well never worry. I have been a fan of both Kazuya and Iori for a long, long time now. Iori has always been one of my favorites since I first started playing the KoF series around seven or eight years back and Kazuya became my all time favorite (along with Terry Bogard) around this time too. But obviously these aren't the similarities I'm talking about. The similarities I'm talking about are of their personalities and backgrounds. So check it out.
***********************************
· Both Iori and Kazuya are extremely arrogant and bad ass [note: by bad ass I don't mean 'evil'. i mean attitude and the like. Think Wolverine from X-men]. Iori is the bad ass of the KoF series, serving the part of the anti-hero who is neither a protagonist nor is he an antagonist. He has a good side to him in where he is a peaceful person having a strong dislike for violence (official). However he has a bad side to him considering he beat his own teammates to pulp (Eiji and Billy) and for no particular reason too and seeks to kill Kyo. Kazuya too is the bad ass anti-hero of the Tekken series and while Jin is the goody-two-shoes hero; Heihachi is undeniably the villain of the series (those who think otherwise about Heihachi know jack-shit about Tekken...seriously speaking). Kazuya is in the middle of the two, having a good side (awakened by Jun) and an undeniable sinister side where he is extremely merciless to those who oppose him.
· Both have an extremely stubborn disposition.
· Both Kazuya and Iori have a cursed bloodline. Iori being a descendant of the cursed Yagami clan and Kazuya being a descendant of the cursed Mishima bloodline.
· Both Kazuya and Iori's mothers died giving birth to them. Iori's mother died giving birth to him, fulfilling the ancient curse on the clan that had the mother die with the birth of the first (and only) child. Kazuya's mother too died giving birth to him.
· Both Kazuya and Iori had a tyrant as a father. Iori's father was a tyrannical bastard making Iori undergo the rigorous training in the Yagami-ryu fighting arts and giving him no love otherwise. Heihachi too made Kazuya undergo the insanely rigorous Mishima-ryu training and gave him no love otherwise.
· For both of them, training included fighting their fathers...unfortunately both their fathers were vicious fighters of legendary caliber who didn't hold back at all when they fought their son. This resulted in a terrible beating for Iori and Kazuya almost every other day.
· Both Kazuya and Iori seemed to be rather sensitive children when they were young considering that they, for the most part of it, pissed of their dads because they would always wind up crying after the beating they would get...and then get even more beating for doing so.
· According to rumors on both, Kazuya and Iori inherited more from their mother than they did from their fathers (much to their dad's loathing). In Kazuya's case it is pretty damn obvious as he doesn't look even a bit like Heihachi. Notice that Jin does look quite a lot like Kazuya.
· Both their freedom from their dads came on a stormy night too. Iori finally surpassed his father at 16 when he finally defeated him in their usual sparring ("sparring" actually considering that it would be a fight where neither held back). Iori finally defeated his father on a stormy night. When his father, finally happy with his son, walked up to congratulate him Iori walked away from him for good, having finally escaped his clutches. Kazuya was less fortunate. Around the time he five or six, on stormy night Heihachi clobbered a young Kazuya badly in a "sparring" match. Disgusted with the little Kazuya, Heihachi took his son towards a nearby cliff and tossed him off. In a twisted way, Kazuya was free of Heihachi too...but not in the way he hoped of course.
· Ironically for Iori and Kazuya, the riddance from their tyrannical fathers only meant being shackled in another constraint. For Iori it is his ambition to destroy Kyo Kusanagi and for Kazuya it is (ironically) the desire to kill his father.
· Both have a sinister presence in their bodies. For Iori it is the Orochi that can control him and turn him into Orochi-Iori: an evil brainless monster with nothing inside him but the desire of blood and destruction. In Kazuya it is the Devil residing in his body that can control him and take over and turn him into Devil-Kazuya.
· Notice also that both despise this presence in them and for the same particular reason too: they HATE being controlled and messed with (being the arrogant loners that they are).
· Red eyes: noticed it? Iori normally has blue eyes that turn red once he is pissed. In Kazuya's case his left starts glowing red when once he is under Devil's control and/or is pissed.
· Both have a special woman in their lives who has subdued [or at least limited] their dark side. In Kazuya's case it is Jun Kazama who rekindled his good side. In Iori's case it is his girlfriend...unfortunately not much is known about her except the fact that she is the most important thing in Iori's life now.
· As fighters both are extremely brutal and merciless, attacking with a savage arsenal of moves. Also both Kazuya and Iori have an identical fighting style: both of them wait for their opponent to attack them and then destroy them their awesome counter attacks. [Note: one may argue that since Iori has an aggressive nature he is an attacker. This is only true once he loses his cool. Iori only attacks (and pretty viciously, i might add) if and only if he is pissed off]
· They also suffer from the same drawback as fighters: their arrogance can make them underestimate their opponent.
· Both have an identical pre-fight stance with them standing with their backs to their opponents. In fact in is not unusual for a fan to find them with their back to the viewer in their pictures and portraits and posters...fan and official art alike.
· Notice how identical one of their victory quotes is. Iori says to his fallen opponent: sono mama shine (die just like that). Kazuya says: koko de shine (die right here).
· Both have one of the largest fan bases in their respective series. Iori has (if I'm not mistaken) the largest fan base in all the SNK characters to date, probably equal or even more than Terry Bogard. Kazuya's fan base is second only Jin's or maybe even more than Jin.
· Notice also that both their rivals (Jin and Kyo) are big mama's boys *shrug*
