For those of us game fans who watch anime, almost all of us remember Ken and Ryu doing the double hadou-ken to defeat Bison in the SF 2 anime, or Terry Bogard going berserk and defeating Mars/Ares the god of war in FF 3 anime or Kazuya and Jun looking too much like Vegetta and Bulma (from Dragon Balls Z) in the Tekken anime.

(The only anime that is canon is King of fighters: another day anime...that also MOST probably since Falcoon passed a statement as to how KoFAD was just an experiment)

We also remember a spiky headed Ryu learning the hadou-ken from some no-name goof in the SF 2V series, Lilly dying in Terry Bogard's arms in FF 1, Sulia dying in Terry's arms FF 3, Krauser doing a Kaiser-wave that doesn't look anything like the Kaiser-wave in the FF 2 anime, and Ken falling in love with Chunli in the SF 2V anime.

For those of us who read fighting games comics, I assume we all remember 'Retsu Kusanagi' defeating and locking the Orochi '20 years' ago. Or maybe we remember Kyo falling in love with Kasumi Todoh in the KoF 96 comics, Akuma and Takuma riding on two T-rexes (i kid you not) in the SNK vs. Capcom: Chaos comics and the Ikari team losing to the Tekken team (consisting of Dark, a bad Jin-rip-off and Tina, think Anna in a green dress and some freak who was wearing THE SAME costume as King).

Obviously some of you would be saying: what the hell is all this?!

Well, I answer: this is only a small, tiny percent of the stuff that is going on in the anime and especially the comics. I stated the above to bring two simple things to surface for those who don't know or haven't figured it out yet:

· The anime are NOT official. They are licensed. Don't confuse the two.

· The comics are NOT official. They are licensed. Don't confuse the two.

Here on I will try and prove to you why what I say is true. First, the comics:

¨ In the KoF 96 comics, the Orochi are said to have been disrupting the world ONLY 20 years ago. This is obviously wrong because the official story is that the Orochi created havoc on earth 1800 years ago before being ceiled away by the Kusanagi clan and the Yagami clan (back then called the Yasakani clan).

¨ The KoF 96 comics stated that the Yagami clan became rivals of Kusanagi's because they were given much more riches once Japan was saved as opposed to the few percentage that was given to the Yagami's. The official story states that after 660 years the Yasakani's became hungry for power and made a pact with the Orochi for that immense power (and thus their name was changed to 'Yagami'). Once the Kusanagi's found out they opposed this unfair gain of power and since then the two clans are rivals. The proof of this to be true is even in KoF 97 when (if you take Kyo, Iori and Kagura) the Yagami ghosts tell Kyo to save Iori from an "ancient error 660 years ago."

¨ In KoF 96 comics Todoh (Kasumi's dad) is supposed to be some tough guy who is almost as strong as Retsu Kusanagi (a guy who single handedly sealed the Orochi...load of bull by the way). Todoh nor Kasumi are not strong at all. At least not this strong. Don't believe me. Fine. Think about this then: if he is so strong how come Ryo (some one who is strong but not THAT strong) beat him and his daughter?

¨ In KoF 96 and 97 there is a guy called Dark who is such a bag rip-off of Jin its shameful. In the KoF 96 comics he enters with the "Tekken team". Anyone remember any Tekken team from KoF 96?

¨ In KoF 97 comics, Geonitz and Yamazaki are brothers. Officially SNK never once mentioned such a thing.

¨ There is KoF 98 tournament, according to the comics, but we all know (and it is clearly stated on the game itself) that it is nothing  but a dream match...a special addition. Same holds true for the "KoF 2002" comics. Rugal is long gone, people.

¨ In the SF comics, Ryu fights Evil Ryu. How the hell can he fight himself like that. Evil Ryu only existed for a mere span of seconds when Ryu went berserk and tore through Sagat's chest with his sho-ryu-ken. That is all.

¨ The Shun-gouku-satsu is not fists made of Ki. He takes you to hell that is all.

¨ Ken never won the SF 3 tournament.

¨ Alex never lost to Ken in the SF 3 tournament. He couldn't have since he is the one who won the damn thing.

That should settle KoF comic crap. Now for the Anime.

¨ In the Fatal Fury anime, Lily plays a big role in Terry's life. According to SNK however, Lily "McGuire" never existed. Now you might say that it would be Billy's sister Lily. True, that Billy boy has a sis, but her name is Lily Kane not McGuire.

¨ Terry does NOT have any move called the 'hadou-senpuu-ken' or 'hadou-senpuu-kyaku' and he never beat Geese with them. Don't believe me, check out his move profile from Fatal Fury 1 all the way till KoF 2003.

¨ Tung Fu Rue is not dead. He is alive and kicking. And he is a total retard in reality. Absolutely nothing like how he is shown in the anime.

¨ Krauser and Terry fought only once during the King of Fighters 2 tournament. There was no rematch that Terry won. That is why he was the 2nd king of fighters champion and won the whole tournament at one go. No rematch shit.

¨ Krauser has a mustache.

¨ Kaiser-wave looks nothing like how it was shown in the FF 2 anime.

¨ Geese and Krauser are not half-brothers. They are friends.

¨ Terry never met or fell in love with a girl called Sulia, never fought Gamin or Laucorn, and never defeated any god of war (Mars/Ares).

¨ In the SF alpha anime, Ryu has a bro named Shun...in reality Ryu is an orphan.

¨ In the SF alpha anime, Ryu can disintegrate people with the hadou-ken. Officially, Hadou-ken is simply like a well landed kick. Can you say exaggeration.

¨ In the SF alpha anime, Akuma is MASSIVE. He is HUGE. Officially Akuma is supposed to be 6 foot which is tall but not that tall.

¨ In the SF 2 anime, Ryu gives Sagat the scar in a fair fight. Officially he won via cheap shot when he turned into Evil Ryu.

¨ In the SF 2 anime, Bison is hinted to have killed Ken and Ryu's master, Gouken. Now we all know that Akuma killed Gouken.

¨ In the SF 2V series, Ryu learns the hadou-ken from some no-name dude. Bull.

¨ In the SF 2V series, Guile kicks the snot out of Ryu and Ken, prompting them to go around the world and hone their skills. Bull.

¨ Ryu has a life in SF2V...not possible.

¨ In the SF alpha generations anime, Akuma was supposed to be originally called Gouki. This is a mistake as Gouki merely means Great Demon (the 'Ki' is supposed to be the name of some demon).

¨ In the Tekken anime, Heihachi wants Kazuya to be his heir. In reality all evidence seems to show that he had NO such intentions.

¨ In the Tekken anime, Jun is a brunette, with brown eyes. Jun is actually black haired, black eyed.

So there you have it folks. Comics and anime are fun to watch and are entertaining but don't take them seriously. The next time you run into a dude who tells you that Terry is so tough he defeated a god, Guile kicked Ryu's ass when he was young, Chunli killed Vega...you can tell them to buzz off and do some more research before they talk shit.

The only comic that is semi-canon, is KoF: KYO and KoF Zillion. The anime that is semi-canon is KoF AD. That aside don't buy anything you read ANYWHERE else.
