Normal Chakra

Normal Chakra is the type of Chakra we see during most of the show, it has a light blue colour to it. This Chakra is sort of a LVL.1 Chakra. It can be used for most skills, but you need a lot of it if you want to perform higher level ninjutsu.

Healing Chakra

Healing Chakra is the kind of Chakra medical specialist like Tsunade and Shizune use for healing-purposes. It's a light green Chakra that can heal physical damage on one's body. All we know is that it heals wounds at an accelerated rate, we do not know if every shinobi has, and can mold this type of Chakra. It seems that the user focuses this type of Chakra to their hands, and then touches the injured spot to begin the healing process. It's unkown if this Chakra is actully used for Skills.

Kyubi's Chakra

Kyubi's Chakra is a special type of Chakra that can only be used by Naruto, and offcourse the Kyubi itself. Naruto can use this Chakra because of the demon fox that was sealed inside his stomach. He calls upon it in times of great emotional excitement, and later on Jiraiya even tries to learn Naruto on how to control it. The Chakra has a redish Colour. And it's a far more powerfull type of Basic Chakra, it is used to perform high level Skills which requires a tremendous amount of Chakra. When Naruto let's a part of the Nine-Tail's power leak out, the seal that sealed the Kyubi appears on his stomach.

Cursed Seal Chakra

This Chakra can only be used when being marked by Orochimaru's Cursed Seal. (Being bitten by Orochimaru, and having survived the 10% survival-chance.) It's a dangerous type of Chakra. And if it's used too much, it will drain the hummanity from a person, and the user becomes a slave to Orochimaru. This Chakra is dark Purple one, and becomes active when the user is out of his regular Chakra. Visible black shapes will appear on the body and the user will be given a tremendous amount of Evil Chakra power.

Chakra Gates Chakra

By opening Chakra gates (releases the body's limits on muscle usage/Chakra flow) your body and muscles will be put on a lot of strain. Altough your attack will be a nearly suicidal attack, you will be able to perform continuous speed and high powered attacks, making this highly devastating to any opponent. This is the Chakra Lee uses to perform his lotus-attacks. Apparantly this is a deadly type of Chakra that is best used by people Advanced (strong) enough in Taijutsu, hopefully being able to bear the heavy strain placed on your whole body. Someone can open up to 8 Chakra gates, some of the user's Chakra will turn green and surround him. By opening more Chakra gates, your granted power will increase. But in most cases the result is immobility of the user, due to torn muscle fibers.

The Eight Gates

[1] Kaimon (Opening Gate)

Releases the brains restraints allowing full power usage of the body's muscles. This is opened to prepare the body to use Omote Renge. This gate is located in the head.

[2] Kyuumon (Rest Gate)

Raises stamina and assists in recovery after being weakened. This gate is located in the head.

[3] Seimon (Life Gate)

Body enters Ura Renge phase, turning their body a shade of red. This gate is located along the spine.

[4] Shoumon (Wound Gate)

Further increases speed and power, usage will begin to tear the body's muscles. This gate is located along the spine.

[5] Tomon (Limit Gate)

Further increases speed and power. This gate is located along the spine.

[6] Keimon (View Gate)

Further increases speed and power, body becomes able to use Asakujaku technique. This gate is located along the spine.

[7] Kyoumon (Wonder Gate)

[8] Shimon (Death Gate)

Further increases speed and power, body attains Hokage-level power at the cost of their own life. This gate is located at the heart.

Chakra Types

Yellow/Blue Normal Chakra:

The normal chakra in a ninja's body has been shown two ways. In the manga the normal chakra has been referred to as a yellow color, while in the anime it's always displayed as a light blue.

Red-Orange Kyuubi Jinchuuriki Chakra:

Naruto had the Nine Tailed Demon Bijuu placed inside his body. When the Kyuubi chakra begins to emerge from Naruto, it takes on a red-orange color.

Green Shousen Chakra:

Shousen no Jutsu allows medical ninja to heal wounds by creating a healing chakra in their hands. If the ninja is highly skilled, they are able to heal more critical injuries. In the anime, when the chakra is used it takes on a green color.

Pink-Purple Kujaku Myouhou Modified Chakra:

Meditating around the Hidden Star meteor granted its ninja a special purple chakra. This chakra is reportedly the users own chakra which has been pulled out through training with the meteor.

Purple Orochimaru and Cursed Seal Chakra:

In the anime, Orochimaru's chakra and the chakra pulled out by his curse seals take on a purple color.

Chakra Modifiers

Hyourougan (Soldier Provision Pill):

The soldier pill is a special medicine full of proteins and stimulants which allow a ninja for fight straight for three days and nights. The pill will temporarily increase their chakra reserves.

Akimichi Hyourougan Pills:

The Akimichi clan developed three pills to increase their chakra in battle. Ingesting each pill grants the clan member more chakra. By ingesting the third and final and pill the clan member will immediately burn off all the calories within their body turning it into chakra, granting them 100 times their normal strength.

Chakra leechers/consumers:

Various techniques and creatures feast on the chakra found in the body. The Aburame clan's Kikaichuu reside in their host’s body in exchange for their chakra. These bugs will also feast on the chakra of the ninja the clan members fight, reducing their effectiveness. Tayuya's Doki also consume the chakra of their targets. Techniques have also been developed to suck out chakra, such as those used by Akadou Yoroi and Jiroubou. Akatsuki member Hoshigaki Kisame wields Samehada, this sword also pulls and consumes chakra.

Orochimaru's Cursed Seals:

As a form of control, the Sound ninja Orochimaru will place cursed seals on those he wishes to grant more power. The chance of surviving the placing of the cursed seal is one in ten. Once placed the seal will grant the wearer the ability to access their real power. By releasing chakra, the seal becomes active and begins to forcibly pull out more chakra. When the wearer releases the cursed seal to activate the extra chakra, they will lose all their free will permanently over time, transforming the user into Orochimaru's slave.

Hidden Waterfall Hero Water:

This special water from Hidden Waterfall allows a ninja to have a ten-fold increase in chakra for a short period of time. By drinking drops of the water, the ninja of the village could increase their fighting ability to compensate for their villages lack of a strong Kage leader. Unfortunately in exchange for the power, the water also eats away at your life.

Hidden Snow Chakra Control Device:

Hidden Snow developed devices to let them increase and regulate the usage of chakra. This device can suck out the chakra of a captured enemy combatant, eliminating their ability to use jutsu. Elite Snow ninja and Snow leader Dotou also wore armor which enhanced their normal chakra reserves.

Hidden Star Village Meteor:

Approximately 200 years ago, the chakra enhancing meteor struck the Bear Country. Meditating around a meteor grants the ninja a special purple chakra. This chakra is reportedly the users own chakra which has been pulled out through training with the meteor. This chakra will first take the form of feathers which extend from the back of the ninja. These "feathers" resemble that of a peacock. The feathers in turn can be shaped and moved to the ninja's will based upon their seal usage. Because the chakra proves hazardous to the health, few ninja have mastered these techniques, and those that do soon die. The training itself has gone through periods where it was practiced and then forbidden. With the stars eventual destruction, the training and usage of the technique will probably cease.

Chakra is simply stated, the energy you use when doing a jutsu. Basically, to do ninjutsu or genjutsu, you must mix your Chakra(which is bodily energy collected from cells throughout the body) and spirtiual energy(which is gained through experiences). Then by doing the proper hand poses Seals, the jutsu can be activated. Once Chakra is activated, various techs and movements can be used. Without Chakra a Ninja wouldn't be able to do much.

The creator of the Naruto series, "Masashi Kishimoto", used the Chakra system as a power that the Ninjas in the series can use, He quotes:

"I needed a hook to tie in those points in the story when characters would use powers that were beyond normal human capabilities. The term is Chakra, which is used as an explanation for readers to better understand the powers. It’s similar to or chi (aka. - Ki) in "Dragon Ball", In other words, a character's Chakra capacity represents his or her mana, or mental power. This has almost nothing to do with one's physical strength, or in other terms, body stamina.

THIS IS TRUE I SAW ON TV THAT A MAN WAS TALKING ABOUT CHAKRA AND YING AND YANG THAT IT IS LOCATED IN THE STOMACH AND WHEN THOS 2 COLLIDE IT GIVES OUT ELECTRICAL ENERGY THROUGH OU THE BODY HE COULD CONTROLE IT AND USED IT TO HEAL PEOPLES BONES AND THAT 5 SCIENTEST CAME TO DEFAME HIM AND ALL SAID THAT WHEN THEY TOUCH HIS STOMACH THEN THERE VINGER GOTT BURNED!! AND THESE SYENTIST ARE BIG PEOPLE AND DONT BELIEVE IN CHAKRA THE NEXT DAY THE MAN DISSAPPEARD BECAUSE HE ACCIDENTLY HURTED SOMEONE WHILE PUTTING A STRAW TO A TABLE AND FELT BAD THEN HE NEVER TAUGHT IT TO ANYONE BECAUSE HE SAID HIS MASTER FISITED IN HIS DREAMS AND WAS ANGRY

Chakra is the energy needed by a ninja to perform jutsus. More information about each training shown in Naruto to help a ninja use his Chakra to its full extend can be read below.

This training includes gathering Chakra into the feet and climbing up a tree. It teaches to control Chakra by bringing out the correct amount of Chakra in the proper area. The amount of Chakra needed to climb a tree is minimal, but it has to be perfect. Kakashi said that the bottom of the foot is the hardest area to gather Chakra. By learning to control Chakra, an individual can master any jutsu if they try.

Water Walking

A more advanced training than tree walking. Like tree walking, a user must gather Chakra into the feet and constantly feed the appropriate amount into the water. The release of Chakra must match the weight of the body and the amount necessary to float. It is more difficult to control Chakra since water is not solid and constantly moving. This training is used to teach an individual how to create a specific amount of Chakra into any part of the user's body.

Leaf Concentration

This training requires a person to concentrate all his/her Chakra onto a leaf which is placed on the forehead. It's an effective way of training concentration. By calming the mind and defining a target, one is able to draw upon their maximum power. Rumor has it that the Leaf sign on the Hidden Leaf forehead protector originates from this training.

Chakra Molding

Molding Chakra can increase the flow of Chakra throughout your body. It helps you do the other 3 trainings well and enables you to access more Chakra when doing jutsu. Molding Chakra can help you gain Chakra to certain part of the body more quickly.

Nezumi (Rat)-O-ushi(Ox)

Tora (Tiger) -Usagi (Hare)

Ryu (Dragon) -Hebi (Serpent)

Uma (Horse) -O-hitsuji (Ram)

Saru (Monkey)- Tori (Bird)

there are 8 gates of ultimate chakra in a persons body.

at eight specific points along the kerakukei the network of energy lines through wich chakra flows. there are places where the chakra nodes converge:

seimon-gate of life

shomon-gate of pain

tomon-gate of closing

keimon-gate of joy

kyomon-gate of shock

shimon-gate of death

those are called the eight inner gates. they constantly maintane limits on the amount of chakra flowing through the body... limits that the lotus (lees technique) uses chakra to forcibly override... enabling the user to draw upon strengh that dozens of times his usual level... even if the users body is destroyed in the process. as result of this move this happens

Controlling, Building, and Protecting!

Controlling chakra during battle is one of the most important aspects in fighting. Another important part is to being able to build chakra to perform techniques. Building chakra is essential if you want to perform Genjutsu and Ninjutsu techniques correctly. Stamina also plays a big part in this. In order to create chakra you must convert it from stamina. When you perform techniques you not only release chakra but also stamina. Being unable to control your chakra can end up being deadly. If you release too small of an amount, the technique you tried to perform will fail. If you use too much chakra you may end up severely hurting or killing yourself. A ninja must have a certain amount of chakra in their body to live.

Circulatory System

In addition to the circulatory system in your body to transfer blood, ninjas also has a circulatory system to transport chakra. Instead of having veins and arteries, chakra is transported from certain pipes and passage ways. Chakra is released by traveling through this system and out. Since the chakra circulatory system goes around many important organs, when the circulatory system is attacked and damaged your organs may be damaged as well. There are 361 openings in the chakra circulatory system in your body. This opening is called the Tenketsu. When the Tenketsus are blocked you will be unable to perform any techniques. The Byakugan has the ability to neutralize all the holes so chakra cannot flow. It is very important to protect yourself from these types of attacks.
