FROM THE SATURDAY MARKET NEWSLETTER

Susan Hall-The Creative Native is a third generation Florida native. Two years ago she jumped at the chance to become a vendor at the Fresh Market. Previously she had been selling her beaded and wire-wrapped jewelry at flea markets and small craft fairs. What began as a hobby over fifteen years ago has grown to an almost full-time endeavor. “I may not have as much time to spend working on my jewelry, but I’m always thinking about it. I look for inspiration all around me.” I’m always trying new things. Susan works with many different materials. Such as sterling silver, gold, glass, clay, fiber, and even paper. Susan has made Buccaneer, Lightning, USF, FSU, and UF themed bracelets and key chains. She has even made an Ybor City Trolley bracelet. It has red, yellow, and silver beads to match the trolley’s colors and a silver trolley charm dangling from it. Most recently, Susan has a series of Prayer Box bracelets to raise money for Hurricane Katrina relief. The tragedy has hit close to home for Susan. Her brother lost his home, car, and several pets in that devastating storm. “I felt like I had to do more than just write a check to a charity. When a customer buys one of these bracelets it’s more than just a pretty piece of jewelry, they now have a connection to the people of Mississippi.” Susan’s creativity is not just limited to ladies jewelry. She makes beer bottle charms for the men, stretchy colorful beaded bracelets for kids, beaded I.D. badge holders, eyeglass holders, earrings, anklets, beaded bookmarks, key chains, and even pet charms. There truly is something for everyone. Stop by and see what she’s thinking up next!
