The Bridges

"What the f**k's wrong with this?!"

Yes, it's all a load of crap!

The Bridges , essentially, is the brainchild of James Spacie and Josh Oxley combined. Sick of practices with his current band going nowhere, James asked Josh if he would like to start jamming together. Josh said yes, but he was still pretty committed to his current band Silent Sundays and was busy practising for upcoming gigs with the group. It took ages to get started but once Silent Sundays had played their Carlton gig, Josh was ready. He had previously spoken to Tom Leech about drumming for Four Sticks (Josh's jam band with Keyran Wade and Scott Murphy), but Tom had got sick of waiting for the band to set a practice date and decided he had other projects he could be working on and so did not join. From then on, Four Sticks gradually disbanded when Keyran decided he wanted to be in a band that only played grunge music. Josh suggested that he start one with his then-girlfriend Tiffany, Keyran liked the idea and Four Sticks was no more. Back to the point, when Josh asked Tom about forming a band again, this time he agreed straight away. Because his previous band with Gareth Warnes had broke up, Tom was pretty sure he could secure this new band a weekly practice at Red Road in Kiveton. Josh said that he should definitely try, so he did and...success! Josh then contacted James who was pleased that, at last, this band was actually happening. When the topic came up of choosing a second guitarist to play with the band. James and Josh both agreed they should ask Scott Murphy. Scott said yes, and it seemed like the line-up was complete. However, two practices pursued without the appearance of Scott. It was soon realised that if he was not committed enough then he should be replaced. At the first practice, Tom had invited his friend Danny ward over for a jam. He was a good singer and guitarist but I guess he just didn't feel comfortable as he decided not to come the following week. So then, after discussion and immediate agreement by James, Josh asked Rachel Williams if she would play bass for the group, with Josh and James switching permanently to guitar. She declined for personal reasons. Just when it seemed like the band were out of ideas on who could join them, they realised that the most obvious choice had been right under their noses all along - friend and good guitarist Alex 'Eddy' Edmond. Josh quickly spoke to Eddy about the group and he agreed to join. Now the line-up was complete, and the next practice went brilliantly, with Eddy proving himself a talented and efficient guitarist. And so, as they say, the rest is still unwritten.....

The rest is starting to unfold...

We played the School thing. Not bad if I do say so myself...

We played the joint gig and it went fairly well. We played roughly a 25 min set and everyone seemed to like at east some of the stuff we played. We are now going to start to write our own songs. And we will try and get every gig we can.
