The Bridge (LGBTCC), Inc. is a registered not-for-profit LGBTQ community Health and Human Service agency offering a number of social programs and referrals. ALL Friday evenings we are offering a GAY/LESBIAN AA-Recovery group from 7:00 to 8:00pm. Downtown we host an LGBT Mental Wellness Support Group located at Christ Church United Methodist on 54 Bay Street [corner of Bay and Washington St.] This is closed to group members and from now on no other programs with the exception of offering HIV/STD/Hep-C screenings the same evening. The first Saturday is the only night we`ll be open.

We are beginning to concentrate on developing a series of substance abuse prevention and treatment mini-conferences this winter and spring. Three local substance abuse programs have given their nod to be on a panel and discuss the issues. Imagine that...collaboration! Putting on a `gay face` into this will offer hope to our gay teens who suffer from alcohol and substance abuse. Feeling safe in treatment brings results!

As always, someone from The Bridge is always able to offer sensitivity trainings for small group to large conferences. We hope to take the lead in advocacy and raise awareness about our common LGBTQ interests.

Introduction to The Bridge (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Community Council), Inc.

The Bridge has strived to improve quality of life issues for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals and groups for over two and one-half years. Our Mission Statement is to:

Provide a safe and welcoming environment and meeting place for LGBT Individuals and allies.
 - Empower LGBT individuals and groups to achieve their own goals and potential.
 - Expand the public's awareness and understanding of the LGBT communities.
 - Foster a culture of diversity, inclusion, and equality for all individuals.

Beginning in March of 2006, a vibrant full-spectrum of light began to cast its glow creating new Northern Lights in the North Country. We are The Bridge- a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community organization. The Bridge LGBTCC, Inc. is fueled with a dream for health, empowerment and justice. Our actions and programs are focused to improve quality of  life of gender and sexual orientation minorities. We are a member of the Council of Community Services of New York State, Inc., Empire State Pride Agenda [ESPA] and the LGBT Health and Human Services Network and CenterLink, a nationwide organization of LGBT centers. While the Council provides us with knowledge to grow organizationally, the Network helps nurture our growth in professional, collaborative, and efficient transforming work. With such support, we are growing daily and simply.

We reach out and respond to need with a multi-faceted program that focuses on both helping society be more LGBTQ affirming and providing direct service to the LGBTQ population found in Saratoga and north. Our rainbow spectrum shines on a broad path. Call us for sensitivity training for employees/employers and health care/human service professionals or to visit our two drop-in centers for friendly fellowship, information-sharing, education and support. We offer referrals to affirming service providers, HIV/STD/HEP-C risk-reduction education and screenings, community education, a list serve, and various support groups in the Glens Falls & South Glens Falls region. Our praxis reflects thoughtful consideration of the competing gender and human sexuality theories today. While we continue to value and honor feminist foundations, we recognize queer identity and gender education as pivotal topics of conversation and education in the 21st century. As a unique mostly rural program, we are organizing to more adequately meet needs in northern counties where the impact of physical and cultural isolation is often compounded by lack of transportation and economic opportunity.

We expect outcomes of LGBT applied awareness of healthy life practices, lowered substance abuse rates, improved  LGBT mental health with affirming treatment, lessened social anxiety and improved understanding and earned trust between  LGBT people, their friends, families, educators and health care providers. We hope that through our website you will see the value of our work and its impact on our community. We seek your support in any way possible. Donations, volunteers, professional services and whatever else you can offer us to enable our continuation as a viable non-profit organization would be greatly appreciated.

The Bridge programs and goals are supported by Senator Betty Little, Assemblywoman Teresa Sayward, Adirondack Rural Health Care Network, the Mental Health Association of New York State, and Rainbow Access Initiative.

We are organizational members of Empire State Pride Agenda {ESPA}, New York State LGBT Health & Human Services Network, Council of Community Services NYS {CCSNYS}, New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault {NYSCASA}.

At long last, a local organization offering the whole community lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender services badly needed for the people of northern New York State. You asked and we listened. We are a success story emerging in upstate and northern New York. We continue to update our education and research community needs. We are called for services every day. We are kindly, respectfully preparing ourselves and our neighborhoods for a better world. We look forward to seeing you soon!

The Bridge now offers an LGBT "Warm" Line

Warm Line now open since Monday, March 17th. Unlike typical "Hotlines" where an individual is in crisis, we now offer an alternative, a "Warm" line for those LGBT individuals, friends and allies who are not yet in crisis but have a real need to just talk to someone who will be non-judgemental, understanding, empathetic and caring. We do not offer advice, but will listen with an open mind and heart. Referrals will be provided as needed. If no answer, call back or leave a message. We will return all calls. All calls are strictly confidential. If you have a true emergency, please contact your local mental health clinic or call 911.
