Misty Moments Zoo was once a thriving wildlife conservation zoo. Sadly, funds ran out and the zoo was closed and abandoned. The residents of the nearby towns decided to use the empty zoo as a place to dump their unwanted dogs. Slowly the population of the wild dogs grew, and territories were created, based on the existing exhibits. Dogs battle for the alphaship of the exhibits as each season passes, miracles happen, emotions are torn, and legends are born. Life has always been and will always be just another challenge. Rerien is an uncharted island in the Pacific near the Equator. It is a tropical island. Summer and Fall are characterized by scorching heat. Fall is noted for the thousands of birds that migrate south for the winter. Winter and Spring are usually mild, in Spring cyclones and monsoons are common. Most reside on the western side of the island. Much of the eastern side is unexplored jungle. A large, dormant volcano sits on Rerien's northern peak. Wildlife ranges from parrots to jaguars to water buffalo. Rerien is a land of magic and a bit of mystery. Some are blessed with the ability to manipulate the elements around them. These chosen individuals are given the title mage: Water… Fire… Stone… Earth… Metal… Air… Some are born to excel. There are the Master Mages, who possess the all the abilities of the mages. And the especially rare Wild Mage who possesses the powers of a Master Mage and more... Not all are mages. In fact some don’t have any abilities at all. However, others have unique ability of mental capacities, such as telepathy and empathic abilities. Bards, Empaths, Finders, Anikers, Healers, and Seers each have something that makes them more unique than the average human. Rerien was a land born of love. Betrayal and death tore it apart. Now it has been reborn. New generations are emerging. Will you be a part of those new generations? Will you be in the future of Rerien?

Centuries after the Red Star was knocked out of Pern's orbit, the dragonriders have vacated the Northern continent, preferring the balmy, sunny Southern continent. Various new Weyrs have been erected, and the dragon population is immense. WIthout need for candidates or tithes, the dragonriders have become more reclusive than normal, and rarely interact with the Halls and Holds. Ten turns ago, a new, huge Weyr began being built in celebration of the extermination of Thread, and it has recently been opened. Under some scandal, Weyrwoman Circe was chosen to lead the new Weyr, and has decided to kick it off with a huge Gather. All of Pern has been invited to take place in what is sure to be a most pivotal gather.
