Hi Jeff

It's Denise Brown (would be class of 77 if I had not moved to Arizona in the summer of 73).  I've been to every Reunion so far so I am like the ....adopted classmate.  Thanks for all you do on this website.  I was born and raised in Howell as were about 5+ generations before me.  I come home every summer and still call Howell "home".

I do genealogy and I am actually writing a book which will include a chapter about Howell.  I am wondering if you and/or your readers can help me out with a few things I'm stumped on.

The first thing that has got me dead-ended is this...There used to be a pizza place on the south side of Grand River Avenue just past the Grand View motel.  I swear is was the original Val's!!  I could be wrong about that, because Val's just sticks in my brain.
There were no tables inside or out.  This was a tiny place were you just walked up to the screen window and placed your order. It was in operation from at least 1962 to 1973.

Next, I cannot find a decent photo of the D&C store.  I copied the one from the website but it is a poor scan.  I have a picture of Ben Franklin's, A&W and a few other places.  I would also like to get one of the old Tastee Freeze, which was by Krogers at one time.  Also I could use a better photo of Spag's if anyone has one.  I have several but they are fuzzy and ambiguous looking..ha ha.

That's all that I can think of right now, but I am certain other questions will come up as I get the outline drawn up.

Regards,

Denise

Jeff,

I stumbled across your website this morning while surfing thru the HPS website. I am a Howell Grad from 1984.

You may or may not know but Howell Schools lost one of their most loved teachers. Leonard Zubris-retired Auto shop teacher passed away on April 10th in N. Fort Meyers Fl. from a massive heart attack. I had Mr. Zubris (known

as "Zube" to his students) for two years from 1982 to 1984. He was a good

friend and mentor and I would like to honor him by setting up a scholarship

in his name. Please go to:

<http://forums.livingstondaily.com/viewtopic.php?t=16058>  to see the online

thread discussion with some of my former classmates regarding the

scholarship idea.

I see that you may be able to provide some direction with this endeavor and

would greatly appreciate any assistance you may have to offer.

Looking forward to hearing from you and Thank you,

Ron Howard

Subject: Update on Brenda 4/19/08

Brenda has been doing very well the past month.  She has been getting stronger and is able to walk without a cane or walker.  She hasn't used the wheelchair in over a month.

She still is dealing with a few issues: GVHD and Iron overload.  She is on a new med for the Iron Overload and her hemoglobin count is high enough so that they are drawing blood off (phlebotomy) which draws some of the iron off.  She has had this done 3 times.  Her feet and lower legs are still swollen so the doctors put her on lasix last week.  She still is having itching, peeling, some pain in her hands due to the GVHD.  Doctors gave her a lotion to use on her hands.

Thursday her chest started hurting and she started a cough.  Yesterday she had a fever so I had to take her back to KCC.  They took an xray and urine sample.  They gave her a antibiotic script and sent her home.  She still has a little fever today.  Hopefully the med will help.

We had a new grandson born yesterday morning.  We want to go see him but we need to wait until Brenda gets better.

Terry

Subject: Pom game

Hello my name is Michelle and I am the Howell JV pom coach. I would like to get an event together this year involving a performance by any former poms and the current JV team. We have games through Feb. If possible could you let me know if you could get the word out and see if there is interest in doing this.

Thanks so much
