bear and the butterfly/the author split tape
1between two high walls
two thousand years and societies the same. thinking the
prisons they build for kids are really as safe as they say.
not a safe haven
we have cops with their guns patroling the halls
locker checks and bomb threats, drugs arent the only problem
this song is about america's education system. police, guns and drugs
are just a few elements that go on at public schools on a daily basis. school is safe?
2 more weight
you call to arms all the sacred leaders of your church, isnt it funny
that they are more curropt than the ones you are taught to hate?
the power of your church disgusts me, because you drag in the weak and the blind.
anyone without the same beliefs as you is written off instantly.
a courage man you stoned was given his last few words and they were more weight.
he said more weight
religion is a huge part of this country. "god" is praised for the good and society blamed for the bad.
i think its important for people to make decisions for themselves, but im sick of seeing those
who are religious look down on those who arent.
3 staircase wit
you let it linger in your blood. the tattoo of regret will keep drifting you away.
you were born in the winter and the depression of the uncontrollable will keep drifting you away
all i ever hear is what if not what can we do or what can we change. so i ask. what good does this do all of us?
should we just keep thinking of the past? will that ever change the future, if i had a time machine i guess
things could have been different
regret is a part of everyones life. this song is about what happens when it takes over.
i wrote this song during a rough time when all regret did was make things worse. if we live our
lives by "things could have been different" then we cant focus on whats going on now.
4 mistitled(bear and the butterfly cover)
lyrics by bear and the butterfly
old wives tale demo
1 on its last legs
as the night dies like my soul i feel like my time has come
i cant recall the lives iv spent, with blood with tears with hurt with love
this is a song about dealing with a life plagued by eating disorder.
2 from under the rug
she sees ghosts and shes realized that theyre the only ones who will talk to her
she is confused because the last thing she remembers never happend
she wants to leave but what she doesnt know is she already has
when she laughs, the whole world cries, when she cries no one dares to ask why
this is about a friend who commited suicide. she was very lonely and felt she had nobody to talk to
a lot of people go through life feeling this way. we as people have a certain responsibility in making others feel welcome
wether at punk shows, coffee shops, potlucks and every day life. its amazing the difference it can make in ones life
3 an even graver complexion
i saw a man in black and white with eyes like shadows and tears that reminded me
of the dream i had about a time i died alone
this song has a lot to do with what i have been going through due to political pressure regarding my father
it's been really rough and something i hope nobody ever has to go through
4 butchered
i remember the night you told me you wanted me to be the one to send you up
almost like an albatross, your sweet melodies of dispair escape through my eyes like a blind poet
i dont really know what this song is about, if anything.
(thanks a million to paul joyner for hosting all these mp3s. seriously, hes the fucking man!)
