In our policies and procedures section we have listed some old and some new policies that we hope will make your experience with us and our rats better, easier, and more enjoyable as well as ensure the health of our rat babies.
- Everyone will receive a copy of our New Rat Care Sheet upon adoption. This is new so those who have not received this can view it here
- We will not give any ratlings anti-biotics to cure a simple sneeze. We do not want to adopt out a ratling that ends up with lots of problems later on that went undetected because we masked it with anti-biotics. We would rather see if the ratling will get over the sneeze on it's own, if it doesn't we will not adopt it out
- We will guarantee the health of the rat for 14 days. If one happens to die or get sick we will replace the rat with a rat from one of either our available or our future litters
- We will give the mother and ratlings vitamins during pregnancy and during feeding up until they are adopted out to ensure optimal growth and health
- We will ask that you use a suitable substrate in order to prevent respiratory disease. These substrates include carefresh bedding which can be purchased at petco or you do as we do and use newspaper shreddings. Either way this is a requirement if you are to have your health guarantee
- We will walk everybody through the procedure to sex the rats so that their is no confusion as to the sex of your rats and so that you know you are getting the right sexed rat
- We will not adopt out the runts as they are prone to health problems which are of our main concern.
- We ask that if you are a breeder or plan to breed one of our rats that you notify us and that you use our prefix when listing the rat as a parent which our prefix is a.m.r
- We ask that if you decide that you can no longer keep a rat that you give us the option of keeping it or finding a home for it
- All ratlings will begin being adopted out after 4 weeks of age
- All prior adopters will be notified of future kits before posting them to other sites such as craigslist
