The Acquirer is an independent magazine which serves the interests of the community of people involved in the education of children, young people and adults who have an Acquired Brain Injury. It is run by an editorial committee as a non-profit-making venture, and has had three issues a year. However the number of readers is diminishing and we are considering making changes. The Acquirer was originally the newsletter of the charity HIRE (Head Injury Re-Education), which later became Acquire. When the charity sadly folded in September 2005, we decided that we would maintain The Acquirer as a magazine for those involved in education and ABI. Contributors come from that community with articles by parents, young people and professionals, ranging from teachers, psychologists and students to nurses, speech therapists, OTs and other therapists. The Acquirer and Cabiig

The Children’s Acquired Brain Injury Interest Group (CABIIG) is a loose consortium of charities working in the field of children's acquired brain injury. The consortium will be using the Acquirer to report on developments of the individual organisations as well as on CABIIG itself. You can find news and events in all issues. In future issues we hope to feature the work of different members of Cabiig.
