Freelance Writer of Comic Books & More

INTRODUCTION

Not all that long ago, I came across a planned comic book anthology called The Sorrow.  What made this anthology so unique in my eyes was the fact that it was to collect short stories written and drawn by industry up-starts, not to gain exposure or make money, but to raise funds for the most important cause in the world: protecting children.

The National Association to Protect Children (PROTECT) is, according to many, one of the most effective organizations in doing exactly that.  Using the political process to help get better child protection legislation passed, both on the state and federal level, PROTECT has had numerous successes.

The comic book anthology in question was to feature stories that focus on the very real suffering of children in today's world.  The Sorrow, a new kind of angel sent to earth to protect children, was to be a supporting character in all of these stories, thus tying the anthology together.

Eager to help in any way I could, I submitted a story to the anthology.  Although my story did not make the cut for the actual comic book anthology, I was among the writers asked to create a prose version for a possible prose anthology.

The prose anthology did become a reality.  To this day, I am glad that I was allowed to contribute a story to such a worthy cause.
