The Outsiders

The author of The Outsiders is S.E.Hinton.
She was only sixteen when she wrote the book.
She lived in Oklahoma.

In 1966 Tulsa, teenagers come two ways. If you're a "soc," you've got money, cars, a future. but if you're a "greaser," you're an outsider with nothing but your friends ... and a dream that someday you'll finally belong.

The Outsiders is about seven friends trying to get through life, living in a rough neighborhood, being looked down on by the majority of society and trying to stick together.
When two of the boys get into trouble, the rest of the gang is there to help them out.

Ponyboy Curtis - 14. Reddish-brown hair, green-gray eyes. Likes to watch movies, read books, and is very smart. Also likes to watch sunsets. Ponyboy grew up with his family - mom, dad, and two older brothers (Darry, 20, Sodapop, 16/17). His parents died a few years before the story starts. Ponyboy is being raised by his two older brothers.

Sodapop Curtis - 16/17.  Dark gold hair, dark brown eyes. Lively, reckless, gentle, sympathetic. Soda never drinks alcohol and can get drunk off just plain living. Soda dropped out of school and got a job at a gas staion to help his older brother to pay the bills and keep his younger brother in school.

Darrel Curtis - 20.  Dark brown hair, ice blue eyes. Tough, cool, smart. Darry works two jobs in order to keep his family together. He hardly ever has time for fun. If it wasn't for his brothers and his friends, Darry would be a Soc.

Steve Randle - 17. Tall and lean, with thick greasy hair kept combed in complicated swirls. Cocky, smart and Soda's best buddy since grade school. His speciality is cars. He works part-time at the same gas station as Soda.

Two-Bit Matthews - 18 and a half. Stocky in build and very proud of his rusty colored sdeburns. Gray eyes and a wide grin. Two-Bit is constantly cracking jokes, making funny remarks and smarting off to the police. His real name is Keith. He sees life as one big joke. Famous for shop-lifting and his blakc-handled switchblade. Likes fights, blondes and school (though still a junior)

Dallas Winston - 18. Almost white hair and blazing blue eyes - cold with a hatred of the whole world. Spent three years on the wild side of New York. Arrested when only ten years old. Tough, cold, mean and wild. There's no difference between Dally and a hood. bitter towards life and everyone else in the world. Dally has a bad reputation and police file a mile long. He's been arrested, got drunk, rode in rodeos, lied, cheated, stole, rolled drunks and jumped small kids. Despite all of this, Dally is very smart and well respected.

Johnny Cade - 16. Jet black hair and big black eyes. Looks like a puppy that has been kicked too many times and is lost in a crowd of strangers. Has a nervous, suspicious look in his eyes. Johnny is the gang's pet, everyone's kid brother. His dad constantly beat him and his mom ignored him, except when she was annoyed, then she would yell at him. Johnny would have run away a million times if it wasn't for his friends. if it hadn't been for the gang, Johnny would never have known what love and affection are.

There is no music as for some reason, when i tried to upload it with music, youtube wouldn't allow it. I'm trying to figure it out, but it will take a while. If you want to watch it with music, the song i was going to use was 'Superman (It's Not Easy)' by Five For Fighting, you could play that song or play any other song you want in the background, like on Windows Media Player, or whatever you have on your computer.
