FAREWELL ADELAIDE VOLVO B59 TOUR

SUNDAY 26th JANUARY 2003

The following photos are from the Farewell B59 tour which ran to various places around Adelaide to record some locations that these buses served for the majority of their life. The bus used was no 1300.

Torrens Transit Bus no 1300 at the Port Adelaide depot before departure on the Farewell Tour on Sunday 26/1/2003

1300 at the Gepps Cross terminal of former route 6 (now route 222). 26/1/2003

1300 at the former route 530 terminal in Dernancourt, route 175 used this terminal as well & is currently used by route 575. The 530 actually terminated on the other side of the road from where the photo was taken. 26/1/2003

1300 at the old route 10D terminal (now route 105) in Maple Ave, Rostrevor.  26/1/2003

   

1300 at the former route 14 terminal (now route 143) in Beaumont.  26/1/2003

1300 at the former route 15 terminal (now route 145) in Beaumont. This is the same terminal where B59 no 1138 was struck by a falling branch in the late 70's severely damaging its roof which was later repaired.  26/1/2003

1300 poses in Victoria Sq on route 99B "Bee Line" free bus with the newer "Adelaide Free" style bus stop posts. While at this stop we had a couple of people try & get on thinking that it was a regular service. I pity them having to ride a modern MAN NL202 gas bus with aircon.  26/1/2003

1300 at the Adelaide Showground bus terminal on route 21W "Show Express" from the city. This was a great location to find many B59's  especially in AOA liveries. After the 21W was the domain of the B59 it became the domain of the MAN SL200's with many AOA buses being used. 26/1/2003

1300 at Flinders Uni terminal on old route 21D from the city  which is now route 216.  26/1/2003

1300 at the 3rd Marion Interchange on route 243 (originally route 630).  26/1/2003

1300 posed at the Seacombe Heights terminal on route 246F (Limited stop service) from the city. 26/1/2003

1300 (route 246F) being passed in Morphett rd, Seacombe Heights by a Serco MAN NL232 (no 774) in service on route 248 to Seacombe Heights.  26/1/2003
