Doctor Who

This has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. Over the next few weeks now that those "God forsaken" A-Level exams are out of the way I hope to post news , review, fan fictions and loads of other goodies here, including my current pride and joy, a K9 made of recycled wood!

Classic Sonic Screwdriver

I can't take all of the credit for this creation as the parts used were already cut etc, I just happened to arrange them like this. The head is entirely my own work however lol. Although the parts were not origonally meant to be a classic sonic screwdriver so I can take a bit more credit I suppose. As usual my awful camera skills don't do the finished product justice I'm affraid.

K9 Builder's Guide Part I

For those who care, I intend to start posting step by step...well...steps of how I made my K9 for anyone else who wants to give it a go.

So...materials.

  1. 5 square metres of 5mm thick MDF. You probably won't need close to that much if you are economical about your placement of the various pieces but it's good to have some spare wood just in case.
  2. 30 square centimetres of 1.5-2.0cm thick  MDF.
  3. Pipe insulation, about 3 metres long, 4cm-5cm in external diameter.
  4. 12 push to make switches.
  5. 30 square centimetres of 2cm thick modeling foam.
  6. A metal sieve.
  7. 15 square centimetres of 5mm (or less) thick, red modeling foam/card/plastic.
  8. A knitting needle.
  9. 3 chrome door handles (homebase)
  10. Timber, or any wood that is about 3cm by 2cm thick (roughly), approximately 2 metres of this should suffice.

The colour is very much up to you but when I find the label from the pot I used I'll post that too. Similarly the collar is entirely down to what you can get hold of. The screws I used were at least 3cm long and I used about 34 of them.

That's all I can remember for now, I'll post plans of the various sides of the body once I can get some drawn up on paint.

This guide is entirely approximate and rough, I made my K9 using no plans and got most of the materials from well-wishers. If there are elements of the guide that you would do differently get in touch and I will add them to the guide.

New Eyes and Ears

These are based on K9 mark III and the later appearences of K9 mark II. The gun barrel is yet to be added.

K-9

Here are some photo's of my K-9. It didn't take long to make, required very little money and skill to build. I was able to make it largely from memory, I didn't draw a single design plan. An you're probably thinking from these pictures "yes that sounds about right" but believe me they don't do it justice. Oh, the ears are not the final ones. I'll start posting a "how to" guide shortly. In the mean time here he is, my poor excuse for photography not withstanding.

Owch! My band-width.
