The VW Beetle. Aliases include The Bug, PunchBuggy, Käfer(german), Type 1 and countless others. The Original Volkswagon Beetle was produced from 1938 until 2003. There was a short halt in production during the World War 2, when most VW Factories where commisioned for use in the war. The Beetle is one of the most well-known cars in the world, even in todays modern world. Most people do not know what that the Beetle was comminsioned to be built by Adolf Hitler, before WW2, when Hitler stated that it should no be a privlage for the rich to drive a car. He instructed engineer Ferdinand Porsche(Thats right, the Beetle is a relative of Porsche!) to build the car. Hitler detailed the desired speed, gas consumption, and price, but left design all up to Porsche. The jokes on Hitler, because since that time the Bug has stood for peace, often painted to say just that.

Many people think production stopped way back in the 70's. Actually, it was produced until 2003, and no, I dont mean the New Beetle. Until recently the Beetle was still produced in Puebla, Mexico. So it is possible to have a 3 year old Beetle. So dont be suprised if you still see Beetles on the road in 60 or 70 years, and Im sure some of them will be over 100 years old. After all, it has been almost 70 years since the first Beetle, and more than 22,000,000 have been made since then!
