The Yellow Bookcase

Your ultimate guide for, well, just about everything.

November 08, 2008. (Salali's Version)

Muchos gracias to Athena for providing me with the inspiration to continue posting news... I feel like such a fail. But my high school has been putting on a musical, West Side Story, and since I'm in the pit orchestra I've sort of been required to be there. Thankfully, (and unfortunately), tonight is the last performance. But that means I'll have a lot more free time (yeah, right) to spend here, with YOU!!! (Not that anyone besides Waffa is actually reading this).

So... yeah. Obama is our president. Moving on.

Apparently, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is the most-anticipated movie of the next year. Wonder how they found that out....
Apparently, the release date for said film has been moved back to July of 2009 - not quite sure where it was before. I'm not that big of a fan.
Argh. My computer is really slow. Anyway, there are two more pics out from HBP. One of them of Harry and Ginny defending the Burrow, and one
of McGonagall casting some sort of spell surrounded by a bunch of people.

While my computer figures out whether it likes Obama's healthcare plan better than McCain's, I'll take this opportunity to tell you that I got a boyfriend. I know, old maid, right? But anyway, he's really sweet... *squeak* Anyway... I'll hardly see him once WSS is over, cause we were in pit together and I don't have any classes with him... so I'll need to figure that out. He used to be going out with my best friend and they broke up cause she went to a private school and we both went to a public one, so I was afraid it was going to be really awkward, but it wasn't. She was really happy for me. Now I need to research guys and her school and find someone for her to go out with... Hm... too bad I don't know anybody at her school...

Argh. Half the time I try to log on to Facebook it takes FOR-EVER to do it, cause I think it's communist. But that's just me. You know what, I'm just gonna close the Facebook browser. There we go. Back to news.

Lots of stuff about random, boring things... the girl who runs The Leaky Cauldron has published a book entitled Harry, A History which "details the series from the very beginning to the Deathly Hallows release". I'm not quite sure how this fits the copyright restrictions and the RDR book that went on trial doesn't, but I guess it's JK's call.
Interview with Tom Felton, my all time hero... it's more about him than the movies, but that's avaliable at www.feltbeats.com

Shur'tugal has an audio interview with Christopher Paolini up. I haven't listened to it because I haven't had the time. They also encourage you to vote.

Cornelia Funke has an interview with The Daily Telegraph - a link is avaliable at her site, www.corneliafunke.de/en, as well as an interview on the Today Show. She also has an article on our 'Black Prince' in the White House. If you laughed at that, you've read the Inkheart books. If you laughed really hard, you're a dork like me.

Eoin Colfer has got a new game up on www.artemisfowl.com, the official site for the books. It's called, "Artemis Fowl's Inner Circle". You pass by a panorama of a house, and you 'scan' objects of interest. Certain objects will reveal a challenge for you to solve. Once you solve three you go to the door and input the code given to you. It's all really easy. Like, one of the challenges was to translate a sentence in Gnommish. And they showed you the key to the code right next to it. And when it's time to enter the code for the door, they show you the code on your 'scanner', so it's just a matter of not mis-clicking. But it was entertaining for a few minutes. I think I'll go try again and see if the challenges changed.

AFC is currently discussing the possibilities of another interview with Colfer, so we need to hang tight and wait for that. Fangathering, which I thought was previously comatose, has come up with a fanfiction contest. Ah, the memories. You need to write a story (that part's very important) that involves the five times one of the characters did something strange. As in, "The five times Mulch regretted stealing something" or "The five times Foaly doubted his intelligence". It doesn't have to be strange though - "The five times Holly regretted" or something like that. Anyway, for more information on how to enter or submit a story, visit www.fangathering.com

I have discovered a new site - www.anti-shurtugal.com It's all about how Eragon and the Inheritance series generally suck. But, thankfully, it isn't a bunch of mindless ranting with idiotic crap like "Omg, Paolini is totally having an incestuous relationship with his sister". It's actually well spelled, well gramatacized articles that criticize his work, not flame it. They do articles on why Eragon is a self-insert of Paolini, why Arya is a Mary Sue, and they've started an off shoot page critiquing Twilight. Even though I'm an Inheritance fan, I still enjoy reading their articles, so I've put a link up on the Links page.

There we go! Salali, signing off!

November 8th, 2008 (courtesy of Athena)

Hey y'all! As Salali and I have both been incredibly busy with our social lives (or lack there of), this is the first November post! I don't know everything about what Salali would normally update with, so I'm just mentioning what I know:

Twilight soundtrack is out and up on Stephenie Meyer's site.

The Tales of Beedle the Bard is coming out on December 4th.

Winter is officially here, in all of its revolting-weather-glory. At least according to me.

(Mini spoiler alert!)
In Brisingr, Saphira gets the hiccups.

I've added a new MR review for everyone's edification. Or scorn, I'm not sure which.

I'm updating the news! Gasp! What a shocker!

October 15, 2008

Because I'm a fail and really lazy, this is the first October post. You may commence booing me.

Anyway, tomorrow is officially the one-year birthday of TYB, so everybody bring presents! (Just kidding...)

Notre Dame sponsered a Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Slytherin in which Gryffindor kicked butt.
Tons of new HBP pics out.
Apparently Warner Brothers has cut out the battle-in-Hogwarts scene because there's another one in DH.
MuggleNet is combining audio tapes with fanfiction. They're creating a team to read aloud and record special fics, so that the extreme multitaskers can listen to fanfiction as they do other stuff. Wouldn't that be so cool, to have your fic actually read aloud by somebody and posted online? Pointless, but cool?
The infamous Sky Mall (those catalouges in airplanes) has come out with Harry Potter merchandise. You can now purchase: Dumbledore's Marvolo Ring ($50); Harry, Hermione, and Voldemort wand displays for a wall (all separate, $30 each); Dumbledore's Wand ($35); Ron's Heart Necklace ($80); and the Slytherin Horcrux Locket ($50).

Eoin Colfer's posted a video discussing topic questions fans sent in to him via AFC. It's avaliable on AFC's home page.

HOLY GOD!!!! I feel like an idiot... apparently, Inkdeath came out 8 DAYS AGO!!! and I spent all my money on a computer game. Stupid, stupid, stupid... ALLEZ A LA LIBRARIE!!!!!!!
Anyway, there's a video interview with Cornelia Funke online at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pxr6VVymYp0

Yes! More information on the Inkheart movie. There's a poster here, and a trailer here.
