Jasmine

Person I would cast for her: Emma Roberts

Reasons for her name: The name ‘jasmine’ means nothing but…..well ‘jasmine’. I chose this name for the elf girl because of this reason. Like the name, she is vague and mysterious. We don’t really know what she’s about for a while. We do, however, eventually realize that she is beautiful in many ways.

About: Jasmine is the elf girl and main character in this story. She is kind, smart, and extremely beautiful. So why is she so lost in this world? When she was only 15 years old (VERY young for an elf), her homeland was destroyed and she was left with nothing. She was one of the only survivors. Since there was no one to care for her, she was sent to the human world. Jasmine is told to act like a normal girl, except for these two rules. Never fall in love, and never show anyone your ears. If she dares to fall in love, she might cast her secret to the world and put the person she loves in danger as well as herself. If she shows anyone her ears, they will surely know her true form because of the ears pointed end. Elves are very much disliked among the humans in this story, so it’s important that she follows the rules. Jasmine is rarely defiant, but soon she finds herself lost in a world where she cannot help herself, and chooses to break both of these rules.

Brave

Lucy

Type of Character: Supporting

Person I would cast for her: Ashley Tisdale

Reasons for name: The name ‘Lucy’ means “light and delicate”. That definitely describes this character. She is one of the prettiest elves around, and is small and delicate. Her pert attitude and lively, springy way of life make her light and petite. She is also very sensitive (or delicate at heart) and light hearted (she tends to laugh things off and be easygoing).

About: Lucy is one of Jasmine’s best friends. She is one of the only survivors of the elf invasion, and is sent with Jasmine to the human world. The same thing happens to her as Jasmine in the beginning (sent to mortal world, asked to follow two rules, no one to care for her) Although they are in the same state, Lucy and Jasmine go to different schools in order to decrease suspicion among mortals. Lucy is very perky and happy, but can be easily upset. She also has a quick sort of temper, but usually forgets about fights soon after. She is very forgiving and trustworthy. Lucy is very cautious when it comes to “the elf rules” and usually begs Jasmine to follow them. She is appalled when she finds out that Jasmine is breaking the rules and ends their friendship for a while because of it. Lucy actually does well in human culture.

Olivia

Type of character: Supporting

Person I would cast for her: Scout Taylor-Compton

Reasons for name: The name ‘Olivia’ means ‘Elf Army’. Although, many of the characters in this story are elves, Olivia is strong and persistent like an army. She is independent and longs to do what her heart tells her. She also has a fierce temper, and is known to “battle” with people over silly things.

About:

Olivia is another one of Jasmine’s elf best friends, and ends up in the same situation. She is hot tempered and headstrong. Olivia is pretty much the opposite of Lucy. She is a complete rule breaker and rebel. She does strongly dislike humans because of what they did to the elf lands, but also dislikes the elves for sending her to the human world. She considers all humans ‘traitors’ and becomes a ‘goth’ around her new mortal school. Olivia encourages Jasmine to fall in love with Rick, show him her ears, and break all regulation. As you can see, Jasmine is being pulled in two different directions. Olivia is known to fight over stupid things, and become easily angry. She also holds many grudges.

Rick

Type of Character: Main/Supporting

Person I would cast for him: Devon Werkheiser

Reasons for name: The name ‘Rick’ means ‘brave ruler’. Rick is very brave and kind, wonderful traits for a successful ruler. Rick also needs these traits for a special conclusion of the story. But I won’t spoil it by telling you. J

About:

Rick is the mortal boy that Jasmine falls in love with. He is kind and sensitive. Rick is known for his music. He plays acoustic guitar, and writes many songs. Although he isn’t very popular, he has a wonderful deep heart. He is not a straight A student by any means, and his parents are often angry with him because he does not live up to his brothers reputation. He usually only gets B’s and C’s, while his brother was a genius. He shares these feelings with Jasmine and that’s when she realizes how much she really likes him. Rick can be shy at times, and usually blushes a fragrant red whenever he is nervous or upset.

Physical description: tousled brown hair, deep blue ‘serious but laughing’ eyes, calm expression, nice smile

Before meeting Jasmine, Rick usually hides his feelings from the world

Ricks wardrobe usually consists of a simple t-shirt and jeans which displays his easy going, peaceful personality.

Ally

Type of Character: Supporting

Person I would cast for her: Emily Osment

Reasons for name: The name ‘Ally’ means ‘Friend or partner’. That is Ally’s whole role in the story. She is not an elf by any means, but is the only human that understands how beautiful the elves are. She guides Jasmine throughout her quest and is definitely a friend and companion throughout the journey.

About:

Ally is a human girl who has just moved from New York City. Like Jasmine, she has been thrown into a new place and is lost. Although she tries to make friends, she usually fails and makes a fool of herself. Ally is outspoken and cheerful. She is also very unique and smart, which makes her intimidate other people in school. Soon though, she befriends Jasmine. Ally thinks that Jasmine is just like her: a human thrown into a new place, (Jasmine lied and said she was from Rhode Island), misunderstood but unique. A ways into their friendship though, Jasmine admits her true form and Ally is intrigued. She guides Jasmine through her quest and is one of her greatest companions on the journey, never giving up hope with her. Also, unlike other humans she loves elves and believes they are magical and beautiful. She does not believe in the invasions, and helps Jasmine with her cause. Ally is the only girl human that Jasmine can confide in.

ALANA

Type of character: Minor

Person I would cast for her: Jamie Lyn Spears

Reasons for name: The meaning of the name ‘Alana’ is ‘little rock’. I gave Alana this name because she is only a pebble in Jasmine’s path, once Jasmine shows her true potential.

About:

Alana is the typical “mean girl” among school. She is vain, and snobby. Although she it a rather minor character, she does do some important scenes such as when she tries to spread rumors about Jasmine, tries to steal Rick, and other “mean girl” things.

Physical Description: blond, tan but still slightly pale skin, blue eyes
