Probably the best open journal/diary site out there. It's extremely easy to make your journal look pretty, you can make entries as long as you want, and you can join lots of communities for people who have the same interests as you. You have the option of making your journal available for everyone to see, only those on your friends list to see, or completely private. Plus, you get to pick a spiffy LJ icon for yourself.

Teen Open Diary

Teen Open Diary is another online diary site. I don't think this one's as nice as LiveJournal, but it's definitely got its perks. For one, if you're good with HTML, this site allows you a lot more freedom in that area. You can have a layout for your front page, and a different layout for each entry if you want, and there are tons of diaries on TOD that have layouts available that you can just copy and paste the code, making it simple to have pretty entries. Though this site is a lot less organized, and it has technical problems fairly often, it can be a little bit more fun.

Xanga
