2 people. 1 joint WWOOF membership. 2 one-way tickets to Costa Rica. Current saved budet: $2300
May 31st, 2007 will be the day our journey begins. Chris and myself will be quitting our respective jobs and touring the globe. We'll spend June 1st through 18th in the United States, driving around visiting friends and attending the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival 2007. We are in the process of getting one-way tickets to San Jose, Costa Rica (CR) - our tickets are standby so we may leave anytime as long as there is room on the flight. Depending on the flight situation we're planning on leaving June 19th or 20th for CR. We've mailed in our World-Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (WWOOF) applications in, and we've already paid the cheap membership fees. We plan to begin in CR and visit Belize, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama. We're not sticking to a certain plan because we're not sure how relations with WWOOF hosts will be. If we find a farming community that fits us both we may just stay there for a few monthes. On the other hand, we may find a WWOOF host that demands we work 12-hour days with poor sleeping quarters (we'd leave that host soon). During this journey we're also considering visiting some Caribbean countries, such as Cuba and Dominican Republic.Depending on time and money we'll start traveling into South America. First with Colombia and then into neighboring countries. Our WWOOF membership is also valid in some SA countries so that will always be an option. In addition to WWOOF, we'll be ultilizing the Help Exchange, Couch Surfing and local hospitality. I've simplified the layout and navagation of this site to aid in our updating while traveling. I'll be uploading photos directly onto myphotoalbum.com and linking to the albums on the respective travel pages. I hope to get comment features up in the air shortly.
