Code of conduct

Anyone who has played any online game will know that there are people who just want to diminish the fun of playing the game for others, the online DOOM community is unfortunately no different. Always remember, there are great people out there who just want to enjoy the game, and don't let these more negative people ruin your fun, or drive you away from the community. Stick with it, and you will have a blast. Here is a basic code of conduct that we at DMG, and many other DOOM players like to keep in mind while playing.

1) Be sportsmanlike : Always end a game with GG (Good Game). Doesn't matter how good you think you are, it doesn't give you the right to start  making fun of other peoples game, sometimes round the corner there is someone waiting to show you what being a great player is all about, be humble.

2) Be approachable :  There are alot of new players that leave because they don't find anyone to help them, spend a little time helping new players settle in. This will collectively help the community grow, and make you feel good at the same time.

3) Don't rise to it :   There are those who will start flaming you no matter what. If they win, they will make fun of you, if they lose they will lose their temper and resort to playground excuses, remember, don't let it get to you, just say GG and let it go.(Maybe with a little reminder about sportsmanship :)

4) If you lose, you lose : Its not a big deal if you lose is it? The only person you're competing against is yourself, pushing yourself to get better. If you lose, GG is the response, maybe even ask for a few pointers. At the end of the day, DOOM is fun, you may get frustrated at times if you're not winning, you will get better, and always remember, it's just a game.

Game specific code

1) COOP: Remember, "coop" means cooperation, so don't run around thinking this is a competition, the fun of this game is to help each other. Letting each other know where the monsters, keys, power ups are, thinking of the best strategy to get out alive! So, don't think that "you win" if you have the most frags, least deaths, or you hit the switch to change level first. No one wins at coop, its all about cooperation and team play!

2) FFA: Camping, don't do it. This involves camping a weapon spot (usually BFG) and every time someone spawns in fragging them, it requires no skill and ruins the game for everyone else, so best not do it, as you will NOT develop as a player this way. Enjoy playing the game, but the most enjoyment comes out of doing well in a fair manner.

3)Deathmatch: Please do no disconnect because you are losing, or come up with a lame excuse as to why you have to leave. These excuses seem to happen ALOT with certain players, only ever playing till the end when they are winning. If you are a sportsmanlike player and really have to go, if you are being well beaten, just say, sorry,gg and tell them that they won, so they know you are not just running away. Also, if you are spectating DON'T give people's positions away, that really is unfair.

4) CTF: Again, CTF relies even more on team play than COOP. Try and talk to your team mates and don't just think, "i'm shooting blue" or "i'm shooting red" try and do everything you can to benefit your team, even if you don't really know them. If it means you don't get alot of frags, so what? or if you don't get to score with the flag through defending or "covering" a fellow player, so what" The important thing is playing as a team. Otherwise, you stand no chance of winning at CTF, or more fundamentally enjoying cooperating with others.

5)TeamDM: As above with CTF and COOP, if you don't like playing as part of a team, thats fine, just play FFA or DM instead of infringeing on other players who enjoy team play.
