I made this design at the behest of my father-in-law, "Uncle Abiram." Yes, that's his name and if you read the Bible,
you should feel a twinge of shock but some of the Bechstiens are real "free thinkers." Anyway, he was voting
for me and looking at some of the other sites and he said: "Thadea, rank superstition runs wild. Look at all those angels
and fairies, not to mention, those foks who think God made the world in seven days. A web site is a public document. Why
don't you take a stand for science?" Why don't I? Well, I believe in Darwin's theory of evolution so the trilobite web
set was born. I'll miss the asparagus which were Caltha's idea, but Uncle Abiram's idea had merit. Also my niece, Haldis,
took her AP exam in biology this week.
This page is also is a statement for functional design. There are no frames because at a dozen or so pages, this site
is simply not large enough. I don't use four layers of tile to create a border, java, or flash. There
is no pulldown menu because navigation is built into the page design. There is no splash page either. My
email address and guestbook are easy to find, so you can get in touch with me.
The border tile appears only where I need
a border, and that border separates different areas of the page, so it is NOT just
for decoration. The effect is to give a feeling of intensity without the weight or
unnecessary complexity, though I used a fairly complex table scheme to lay out this page. Nearly any graphic
browser IE or Netscape 3.x or better will load this page. This design also uses text links instead of buttons so I can
easily updated it. This makes this design both serviceable and scaleable.
And yes, this is hand coded in wordpad and I made the three pieces of graphic used for this myself. You are free
to take the graphics. The code has rem statements in it. If you want to see how I put this page together click
