I love to draw, because mainly i can't help it. It's what I do when I'm bored and what I do, when I'm angry and I want to get my mind off of things. It helps me tons, and I really want to make a career out of it, when I get older. I also like to draw, because other peoples' art inspires me. I'm on a website called DeviantART, where you can post your art and comment and things, and a lot of my friends on there, and a lot of really talented artists inspire my artwork. It's a big community of people that draw and it's tons of fun.
Artists that inspire me are toounit, on DeviantART. He's a great artist and makes me want to draw every time i see his artwork.
I really like Russel Merritt, who is my art teacher. His art is great and it inspires me to do a lot of my greatest work. He encourages me and helps me become a better artist, by critiquing me and complimenting me. Without him, I don't know if I would still be doing this.
I'm mainly in the art field of Anime and Manga, because...those are the coolest ones out there? Haha, but i really like to draw that. I don't know why. People ask me why all the time, like my family members. A lot of them want me to draw other things, but those aren't really my thing. Manga and Anime got me started on drawing.
I also like to watch and read anime and manga. A lot of them are really cool, some a bit strange and i like to stay away from, but most give me a lot of ideas. I want to make manga books someday.
Some people already in the business of selling manga books professionally are CLAMP, Oh!Great, Rumiko Takahashi, Madelein Rosca, who I know from DeviantART and tons more. Those are just from the top of my head.
Most all of them start out doing doing things called doujenshi, which are usually about 30-50 pages long. Then, they start going into companies, like Tokyopop, Seven Seas, Viz, and more professional companies that you see in stores. Most artists that start manga start with commissions, which is where I am right now, where people pay you to do pictures. Then, they move to doujenshi, then if they're lucky enough they will go into the field and make tons of money.
Manga and Anime artists usually get paid $100 a page, if they live or work for an American company. In Japan, Manga and Anime artists usually get paid $120 per page. I also learned that from my art teacher, Russel.
