My partner and I started breeding these neat little guys for the public as a hobby last year, we have had our own litters for friends and family in the past. My family and I have had them as pets from the time I was 13 (1994). I was at a convention for work one day and ran into a baby hedgehog in a hotel room! An associate had just purchased her and took lots of movies and pictures to bring home. As soon as my finance saw the pictures he wanted one, too! My fiance hadn't seen a baby hedgie before although he loved my 2 adults. Having spent time in England as a child he was very familiar with hedgehogs but had never seen an African Pygmy domesticated one before he met me. I told him about the ones I had as a teenager growing up and showed him my current family's 'kids' and he was sold on them and insisted on getting one of his own. For the next big shopping holiday I gave him the choice of a Sony PSP or a hedgehog baby of his own - guess what he chose? Rarely will a guy pass up a video game system!AND SO we brought home our first girl together 'Mrs. Phlyddia Featherbottom' and she has been entertaining us ever since. Our cat Mr. Poo is fascinated with them and just loves to sit and watch the hedgies run around, or go for a swim in the tub. In short the whole family loves them and we are very likely to always own at least one hedgehog now for the rest of our lives together!
I have added his hedgie to my family's hedgies and now we have the 'Brady Bunch' hedgie family between the lot of us and over the past couple years almost all of our friends, neighbors, and family have acquired hedgies from us. We breed only one litter at a time (except during the holidays) and have no more than 3 adult females in our home at a time. It is Federal law that you can not have more than three breeding females at a time without a USDA License. We breed most litters at our Mother's home in Dallas . We do this as a hobby to provide more people with kind and loving little hedgehogs because we know of the local demand for these charming little pets and want to be able to provide people with an alternative to buying an animal from a pet store. We only sell to local people in the DFW area preferably near Allen, McKinney, Plano,Dallas, and Richardson Texas (within driving distance.)
PRICING CHANGE COMING FOR 2009!
We will no longer accept pre orders in 2009. All babies will be sold by color with a $50 deposit collected ahead of time. Contact us for more information. Our mother has applied for a USDA license, upon her receiving her license she plans to breed more litters than before from our location in Dallas. This is scheduled for 2009 but will most likely begin in November of this year 2008.Check back with this site for updates.
