Sometime back in the last millennium...November, 1999 to be exact, I discovered a tumor in my throat. It was just so unbelievable to me as I wasn't even 40 years old yet. It was worrisome to say the least. I felt so betrayed by my own "flesh and blood". I really didn't believe it was that serious. I still possessed the bullet-proof mentality of my youth. I had always thought my tumultuous upbringing would have been the toughest challenge I would have to face in this lifetime. Unfortunately, I stood corrected.....I had seriously miscalculated the scope of this disease.
As you can see from the picture below, this tumor had consumed all of my left tonsil. It had a "lobe" that extended down into my throat. Everytime I swallowed, it felt like I was stretching this thing further down into my throat. Thanksgiving 1999...one I shall never forget!
