Today we just brought Marq home! Marq is from Solivia Kennels in Georgia. He has WONDERFUL lines, and is a fantastic dog.
I got to leave school at lunch to be home cleaning and getting ready for him. At 2: 15 pm we left for the Toledo Airport! That ride took forever! When we finally got him, and were able to let him out of the crate, his size shocked me. I knew he was going to be big, but not quite that big! He is huge, and I love it! But, I am still having to adjust. Being used to living with cockers, and then jumping up to a Pointer is a big step~!
Marq is doing well. I have already started clicker training with him, and he knows sit, is learning down, and has already been practicing some agility jumps!
Marq has TONS of toy drive! He is VERY active, and loves to run. He loves frisbees, his ball with a rope, and adores his unicorn stuffy. He is also very food motivated, which all makes it so much fun to train him!
11/12/05- Grand Rapids, MI
This morning I had to wake up at 3:40 to get in the shower. We were out of the house at about 5:00 am. We didn't get to Grand Rapids until 8:30. I was supposed to be there to meet Jan at ring 6 at 8:00...but we were late. And I couldn't find her. By the time I did recognize her I was just about to enter the Jr Showmanship ring....and she was taking her Gordons in the breed ring. In other words, I didn't get to show Maxine.
I didn't even get to meet Maxine. I did meet Jan and Doogie, Jan's other male gordon setter, though. Doogie was soo big, and he was gorgeous. He was so easy going and just LOVED attention. He drooled on my hand.
Because I didn't get to show Maxine, I went into the Jrs ring after all. At first it wasn't looking so good. My armband kept slipping out.... Cocoa's tail and head were down. I didn't have time to clean her ears before we went in. On the table Cocoa kind of backed away from the judge, but soon after she settled in and remembered what showmanship was all about. The judge complained about her dirty teeth. I had told my mom we need to get Cocoa some raw bones.... On the down and back Cocoa was farther back behind me....not looking to confident, at all. She wouldn't freestack either. No big surprise. ....despite all that, I ended placing 3rd in my class of five. I beat both my sister and Jessi, which surprised me. I know that I could never get 1st with Cocoa, but that 3rd was nice.
Cocoa got her CD!!!!.... She didn't do very well on her offleash heeling. Her front on her recall was straight!!!!! I was SOO proud! Her finish was crooked, but she was happy and having fun. I guess we did so good we got a pretty decent amount of applause! Lol...
. O, yea. Cocoa got a score of 189.
9/10/05- Williams County Fair Dog Show
Intermediate B Dog Care--2nd place and perfect score of 230
Grad. Nov. B Obedience--1st place with score of 211
Int. B Show--1st place with perfect score of 230
I actually won the showmanship class after having to do a tie breaker with my twin sister. Actually, they had to do three tie breakers to determine the winner! First tie breaker was a simple question. Secondly, we had to handle a different dog. Lastly, we were asked what breed would we get if we had a chance? And why? I knew as soon as that question came out of her mouth I had won!
August, 05- Cocoa and I just competed in the Ohio State Fair 4-H Dog Show this past Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
Monday we did really well in Intermediate B Showmanship. Cocoa actually held her head and tail up while in the ring and she freestacked!!!!
We ended up placing 8th in my class of about 60 people!
Tuesday I competed in the Dog skillathon which is a dog knowledge test. There was this Korean(or something like that) guy there that could barely speak English and he was tallying up my score! Needless to say they gave me the wrong score. I got a "70" with a 4th place when I should have gotten an 87 with a 1st place!
Wednesday Cocoa and I competed in Graduate Novice B obedience. She has improved SO MUCH from last year!
I'm so proud of her! He heeling, figure eight, recalls were all excellent! She didn't jump the broad jump, though. We ended up with a score of 201.5 and a 12th place!
