About Us

My name is Terry Bell I am married to Linda ( my rock ) I have three children and one grand daughter,Kyle 25, Teresa 21, Sheila 18, and our Grandaughter Nick'esha Nicole 15mo. "What a dol".

We are Avid Triker's and love everything about it .We are pretty well known on the west coast, And have been Blessed with a lot of people we think of as good friends and Family, (we can say that because we mean it ).

Here is a little history on how I got introduced to Trike's

When I was 18 I bought a 59 pan and went to work chopping, Chroming and painting, And thought I was really cool and tuff (ha ha ha) and I ran with a pretty ruff crowd (outlaw) And after awhile I woke up and got out.

Then I met a guy by the name of Denny Bachek (now deceased) where I worked, We became friends and then one day he invited me to go to his favorite bar. It was the Timber Inn on the corner of  Holder and Ball (kinda cool huh) in Cypress Calif. When we pulled into the parking lot to my amazement it was full of VW Trike's, There must have been 10 of them.

This is where I met the Bar owner Charlie Crowfoot Who we all called "POP" and his wife Trudy who took care of all of us.

I met Bob Quinton (yes the one who is in Big Daddy Roth's book Trikes), Andy Jusko, Richard (Pineapple), Mexican Jim and Nick who eventually some years later bought the bar when Charlie retired. And many other's. The best group of guy's anyone could ever know, They had an informal club they called the ( Trike Ons ) and have been credited in helping to perfect the VW trike to where it is today. And as far as anyone can tell was one of the first Trike Clubs if not the First one.

I thought this is my chance to harass a bunch of sissy "Trike rider's" you know that cool thing. I rode a Harley and they didn't "hahahaha"

This was the coolest bar and these guy's were more fun than you can imagine. To make a long story short we road together.  And one friday we were going to go to Lake  Isabella and my bike went down dropped a cylinder and I was out. (think they did something to it) "ha ha ha "

One of the guy's told me I could use one of his Trike's and still go if I wanted to. So after a lot of teasing back and fourth I Finnaly gave in and rode it. WOW I thought as we were riding there, This is nothing like I had expected and when I got there I did not have to lean against a tree for an hour and drink alot of Beer to get rid of the back ache from my hard tail (ha ha ha). And the best thing was I  could carry more BEER.

When I got home I was sold and I went to work. I hustled me up a frame and a body and all the rest of the things I needed. I bought an old bug and barrowed the shop where I worked. I went to the Timber Inn and partied Friday night and went to the shop and took a nap or passed out not sure but was awaken to someone pounding on the door and when I opened it ( you got it ) the TRIKE ONS were standing there with full ice chest and smiles on there faces and we went to work . Beleve it or not. I test rode it around the parking lot Sunday night Like I said before the greatest bunch anyone could have. It took about a week to finish all the lighting and other things and I registered it.

And here it is my first Trike

Cool huh sorry about the shape of the Picture they are 32 years old and lucky I found them.

The guy on the back is my Brother Les Bell he was killed in march of 1989 I just wanted to put him on here so he would be remembered. He always wanted one but just never got around to it.( Bummer he would have loved it )

After I got it running I was hooked and I have had them every since off and on. I really got interested in the VW engine and started to learn anything I could find out about them and finally opened a shop called "Terry's Off road" I was building buggies and engines, Got pretty good at. I built 2 10sec aspirated engines for a customer who was a drag racer, But I was just in the wrong area to get enough walk in business and eventually had to quit. And went back to driving a truck and got away for a while.

Then Linda got with a friend of mine named Craig Hastin and they had a plan. He called me and said he found a VW trike that needed alot of work and if I would do the work he would sell it and split the money. It sounded good to me.

I went to work and when I finished I call him to tell him it was done and I even had a buyer. When he came and handed me the pink He and Linda were smiling and then I noticed It was in my name. When I ask what was this Linda gave me a big hug and said she new I wanted another one and so there it is. That is when I told them do you no what you have started and every since then we have gone full steam. We started a lil club called "Triker's of Central Cal", Craig and I started "T and C's Vdub toy's", Triker's of Central Cal hosted a Run that became Known as the Porterville Run we did it for 6 years and then turned it over to BTW and now it is known as Kingsburg Trike Inn in October.

Linda and I are liftime member's of BTW and I am known because of my big instagating mouth (they say) I don't see it that way, I just know that I have tease   and harass everyone. OH yea and I BBQ to, I have BBQ'ed hundreds of pounds of TRI TIP for most of Runs hence my screen name triknbbq.
