Gig on the 29th October - London - Club Wanderlust - George's Tavern
A review by Everett True in the Village Voice of our Brighton Gig!
Here's a photo from our gig in London May 10th. We have been rehersing in preparation for a vinyl ep of new songs.
NEW CD
Chuck has pulled out all the stops and put out a great Glass-mastered cd featuring the best of our demos and singles - including a live video of us playing 'Evil Going On'.
Terraplane Fixation cd well received - check out this review!
Rehearsals under way at the Handsome Llama studios in Frome - the intention is to play some gigs to support the Revel cd.
REFORMED
In 2003 to celebrate our efforts and inspired by the interest showed in us from the U.S. we reformed for a series of rehearsals to see whether we still had it and still enjoyed playing. We had Dave Mackay and Andy Payne from the Terraplanes on bass and drums respectively with Geoff Norcott from Animals and Men on drums as well. To add some extra oomph to Ralph's guitar we added our old next-door neighbour Phil Cass on lead guitar. We went into to the studio and recorded Nag Nag Nag plus new songs 'John of the Sword', 'Sugartown - you're dragging me down' 'Little Johnny Guitar' (a tribute to Johnny Thunders) and 'Taking Care of Business' as well as a revisited 'Shell Shock' and a cover of the Troggs 'I Want You'.
YO LA TENGO
In March 2004 we got to meet Yo La Tengo! This Brooklyn-based avant-garde trio had covered 'Evil Going On' in their formative years and we were treated in what was a moment of pure pleasure - a performance of it sang by Georgia - harp being played by Ira. What a day!
In preparation for a further improved retrospective cd we were searching for lost tapes and decided to try Mick Mercer. Mick is a rock photographer/music afficionado from way back, when we were hot, and after all these years still had a copy of the lost demo! And he remembered us and gave us some coverage in the form of an interview with Ralph on his historical activities and the band itself in his downloadable magazine 'The Mick' issues 9 and 10. They may not still be up on his site but if you are desperate to read these articles email me and I'll send them to you. Mick's site has some fascinating subjects covered with a lot of useful pieces on what might be described as 'the dark side of the 80s!'
