Isabella Magdalene Reynolds is overjoyed to be moving to the home that once belonged to her dear grandmother. The mansion just happens to be on Whick Plantation where generations before her grandmother lived inside the home. There is a rumor that a Confederate soldier by the name of Elijah Whick met an unfortunate death in the home and now his ghost roams the rooms. It appears Elijah was hung on Halloween and the mournful cries of his dear fiancee, Maggie can still be heard beneath the hanging tree. But that doesn't stop the feisty and very independent Isabella from taking resident inside the home. She intends on renovating the home and calling it hers, with or without any ole ghost. One thing Isabella never imagined finding was someone like Elijah that would stir such sensations she never felt.
Elijah is tired of roaming the house trying to reach out to people, only to have them fear him and run away. He is intrigued when Isabella finally settles inside. She reminds him of his dear Maggie. The ache he feels to hold her in his arms again is so strong: he has to find a way to be with her. After she moves into the house Elijah keeps a watchful eye over her. It is said that Isabella bears a strong resemblance to Maggie and there is a painting that could possibly release Maggie to be reunited with him. Elijah is mesmerized by the lovely ISabella, certain that she is indeed Maggie reincarnated. She is frightened when he appears to her but his tenderness begins to reach out to her. Still she pushes him away. When some of her friends no longer visit her much any longer she has moved into the house, Isabella turns to Elijah and his warmth. She seels clues through journals and letters hoping to find the answer to his death, as well as a portrait that could possibly change the hands of time. Elijah and Isabella can only hope to unlock secrets to help chan ge the fate of Elijah, so they can possibly have more than just a haunted embrace.
Haunted Embrace is a splendid tale that carries the reader into the life of Elijah and his longing for the love he lost. I could feel his agony and desire to reach out and have that one special love in his life. Isabella is an impressive warm woman with a compassionate heart. I fell in love with Isabella and Elijah. There is something about Elijah that just grabbed at my heart the way he emits so many emotions it is hard not to feel empathy for him. The paranormal elements that Ms. Kent instills into the storyline intrigues the reader like a magnet. The ghostly effects are indeed exciting and aree quite enchanting that the characters almost lift from the pages. I wanted to be inside the house with Elijah and Isabella, they are such alluring characters. This well written page turner transcends time, with a beautiful setting that propels the reader into a world where time almost stops.
One can't go wrong with this tantalizing book that can be found at Star Dust Press. Sincerely good reading.
